Have your say: Best High-end ILC of 2014

2015 was a big year for some brands, in terms of high-end ILC releases, and a quiet one for others. Still, we saw Sony drop the second iterations of the company's full frame 'R' and 'S' cameras; we also saw Canon release the two highest resolution DSLRs to date, in addition to a brand new pro-level system from Leica.

Note: This poll lists pro-level releases announced during the calender year of 2015. If there's a late 2014 product missing that you want to highlight, leave a comment and we'll take this into account. Don't see a camera you think should be included? Only amater-ish people will go for Leica. Leica never ever was camera with lots of innovation. I would not be able (so is other knowledgeable photographer), to cam with pix that I get if I was using Leica. The moment you gain photo knowledge you will change your camera (leica) to something else, for sure.
For example: The lens versatility from leica is very...very poor. The Lens quality from Leica are good but so is Sigma, Nikon, Canon, Voigtlander, Tamron, Tokina...and other. The Leica lens is up to 15 time more expensive then no Leica lenses. WHAY?? They are the biggest ripoff scam of the 20 and 21 century. I guess they can rip you off, because you are red neck four grade north americanoooooo.

What an complete and utter BS poll. Best gear? Come on .. It's a poll that only proves how effective marketing for a model has been. People that don't even own and use certain gear will vote for it. We all know the 'winners' beforehand. What was this model again that DPreview spent so much time on ....?

Exactly!

They left off huge amount of 2015 released gear that is meant for special areas, yet they include some like Leica Monochrome that takes only grayscale photographs and is incapable to take color images.

Then they include cameras like Canon 5DS both models, that is ugly in higher ISO values than 200-400.

Then there are Leica cameras that are not so great for sports or action photography.

And they leave out many other best high end ILC because they just doesn't happen to be so hyped by gear heads.

Strange that Olympus E-M5 II was left out, as it would provide best image quality from all those for studio (product photography) and landscape (same limits as 1s long exposures) or even stationary portraiture (with film we were custom to have models stay still for second).

And it is one of the best high-end ILC by the features as well.

Even when including the limited use high res mode the Sony a7r2 can still rival it. While having a ton of extra's.

The em5 2 is great but not as great aa some mentioned here.

Sorry but A7r2 doesn't have 64Mpix true color (foveon like) pixel resolution that is beaten only by medium format cameras.

A7rII gets way too much praises for its limited use in example product photography where E-M5 II beats it in most situations or in other areas where other even medium format cameras beat it that got released 2015.

If the only ranking to get that list is to be "averagely good on all areas" then there is more reasons to be other top cameras or more reasons to drop even A7rII from the top list.

Like why the Leica Monochrom is on the list? It can't produce color images!
Why A7rII is there, it can't survive the cold weather shooting long periods just with one battery!
Why E-M5 II isn't there, it wipes floor with every other camera in the list with resolution and color accuracy in product/portrait photography!
And if the pure resolution needs to surpass A7rII, then why those other cameras are on the list?

Looks like you are a fan of the E-M5 II, so you should be thankful that DPR put it in the 'Best Consumer' category, where it is doing pretty well. If it was here it wouldn't stand a chance.

The E-M5II resolution is easily ruined by shuttershock and the lenses don't seem capable to extract the full potential. Here's a best case scenario and it still loses against a Sony plus 55mm Zeiss:

Notice that at ISO 200, the output is even softer, due to shutter shock.

You do know that dpreview has failed to make those samples correctly? The HR mode doesn't have any shutter shock, it is pure electronic sensor when it is used and beats Sony easily when known how to handle both cameras.

Someone blinded by brand loyalty is all i see.

Don;t be ridiculous it takes 4 16mp images. There is no way it can be 64 mp and cancel out the bayer filter at once. That is physically impossible.

It takes EIGHT images, not FOUR.
8 frames with each moving 0.5px.
And it disables the bayer filter at once as every pixel is recorded by R, G and B pixel.

And the blinded brand loyalty is only found in here now from Canon and Sony branch (and partially from Leica, but they are special breed anyways) who can't accept that some other company has features that would categorize one of their camera to this group.

Like look like how people praise the A7rII over anything, like every other camera is far worse in everything.

While I am saying here that example Leica Monochrome produce best B/W photos.
E-M5 II produce best product photographs (unless you need T/S features, that isn't available). Then there should be cameras like D810A that is for astrophotography etc.

Sorry, but I am just saying that the poll is very biased and build by the fans for the fans without valid reasoning what so ever.

I have a Sony and a Pentax, and I love both cameras as they both produce great pictures, but I will never say strong words like "Pentax K3 produce best product photographs" as I have not tried all other cameras, unless, of course, if I am affiliated with the brand.

Sony for the dreamers... see them all changing accus, wasting lots of money for third class glass and a camera to play with.
No Alpha 7RII is more a joke then a real camera, it is more for believers then for photographers.
At best a studio tool.
