Contax/Yashica & K mounts

Does anyone know if the Contax/Yashica bayonet mount will fit Pentax K mount cameras? There is only a .04 difference in the registers (flanges) of these two mounts. Thanks in advance.

No they won't fit. A Contax lens will not mount on a Pentax K camera and a K mount lens will not mount on a Contax/Yashica camera.

Read the text that accompanies the photo in this link

I have also found a website which shows how to modify the K mount to fully accept a C/Y lens and still allow full use of K mount lenses. I'll post the link tonight when I get home.

I tried a Yashica ML lens on a Pentax ZX-5 body. I could not get the lens to fit into the body. After seeing your photo, I tried again, and I discovered the reason I could not do it. The aperture coupling cam of the ZX-5 body prevents the Yashica lens from being inserted into the body. Since the Pentax DSLR cameras have the crippled K mount, the aperture coupling cam is absent, so the lens can indeed be inserted into the camera body.

Here is a web site that shows how to convert a Contax/Yashica lens so it will mount securely on a K mount body:

It is in Japanese but the illustrations are excellent.

That is an interesting link, but it can be somewhat destructive to the Pentax body, especially if part of the body material is removed so the C/Y lenses can focus to infinity. I do not have any Carl Zeiss lenses, so I will probably not be doing any modification to my Pentax body any time soon.
