Watch: President Obama Appears in Cuban Sketch Show Ahead of Historic Visit

1 hour ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Ahead of President Barack Obama’s historic trip to Cuba, he appeared on a Cuban sketch show with one of the country’s most famous comedians.

Luis Silvia, known for his character Panfilo, posted a sketch on Saturday  featuring the President himself. Though the humor may not translate exactly, Obama plays along as Panfilo calls the “Casa Blanca” and is surprised to get a direct line to the Commander in Chief himself.

Panfilo calls the White House to see if it will rain on Tuesday, when Obama is set to attend a baseball game. They then go on to address Obama’s visit.

“I am so glad you will come to visit so you can know Cuba, its people,” says Silvia.

“I’m looking forward to it,” Obama reassures him. “The American people and the Cuban people are friends.”

Panfilo naturally takes this a step forward, giving Obama travel advice »

Scott Baio has added his name to the list of celebrities who are getting behind Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump.

The actor revealed his endorsement of Trump to Fox NewsJudge Jeanine Pirro on Saturday, calling himself “fed up” with the Republican party. When asked why he supports Trump, Baio, who identifies as a conservative independent, said Trump “communicates with people very well.”

“It’s very simple, because when he speaks I understand him,” Baio said. “He speaks like I speak, he communicates with people very well. I want him, as any one person can do, to go into Washington and blow it up.”

The “Charlies in Charge,” “Happy Days” and “Joanie Loves Chachi” actor went on to say that the right needs someone to “relentlessly” take on democrat Hillary Clinton.

Kevin Spacey just gave the fans of the Florida Panthers a special treat at last night’s hockey game. He not only wore a “Spacey in Space” sweatshirt but he came to the game wearing a mask of himself. For those of you who have no clue why the House of Cards star did this, then let’s give you the back story so this all makes sense. And by the way, even if there wasn’t a back story this would still be awesome. It all started when Florida Panthers Mvp Aleksander Barkov was given his “hero” award, a recent hockey tradition.

President Barack Obama Teams Up With Cuban Comedian Panfilo; ‘Saturday Night Live’ Needn’t Worry

President Barack Obama mostly keeps a straight face in this comedy clip with the very popular Cuban comedian Panfilo, and, frankly, it’s not hard to see why. Let’s just say humor doesn’t always translate. (No offense to the Havana-based comics fans – we’re pretty sure most of the skits from this season’s Saturday Night Live wouldn’t survive a trip to Cuba; they barely survive here). In any case, a little background: Panfilo’s weekly, Monday-night TV comedy show has been a… »

The Most Unintentionally Funny Star Trek Fight Scenes

Does anyone remember the scene in the movie Cable Guy when Jim Carrey takes on Matthew Broderick at Medieval Times?  Remember how Jim Carrey is mocking one of the most notorious fight scenes from Star Trek?  That’s because it’s hilarious.  And just as the scene in Cable Guy is pretty funny, throughout history, Star Trek had its moments. I don’t think unintentionally funny fights get any better than Star Trek. Hell I don’t think anything unintentionally funny beats William Shatner doing whatever it is her do. Limahl’s Video for The Neverending Story Completely Ruins the Song

I’m a little nostalgic this week because The Neverending Story was on television.  Those of you who have seen it know that it’s rarely on cable so when you catch it, it’s a precious moment in your life.  And you can’t tell me you’re head’s not bopping when Limahls’ Neverending Story track starts playing. But there’s something very sad about all of this.  When you actually see the video for this song, you’re going to be extremely disappointed. Before I saw this video, I could swear the person singing the theme song to The Neverending Story was a woman. The

TV Review: ‘Heartbeat’

5 hours ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Melissa George’s pregnancy prompted NBC to reschedule “Heartbeat” from the fall to midseason, but the intervening months haven’t helped this medical drama find much of a pulse. Although derived from a book by a real-life heart surgeon, the series plays like a rather pallid “Grey’s Anatomy” knockoff, featuring another doctor who cares desperately about her patients, runs roughshod over subordinates and bosses alike, and walks and talks very, very fast.

If Kathy Magliato’s book was built, in part, around how cardiac surgery remains a largely male bastion, there are enough brilliant female doctors patrolling the halls of TV to make George’s Dr. Alexandra Panttiere feel a little less special. The day-to-day pressures of the hospital, meanwhile, share time with a sort-of romantic triangle, involving Alex’s relationship with her dreamy doc boyfriend (Dave Annable) and the surgical mentor (Don Hany) who suddenly shows up, unleashing »

It was the “Linstead” sigh heard ’round the Interwebs: Despite much enthusiasm from Chicago P.D. creatives and fans, alike, the show’s planned Lindsay/Halstead road-trip hour stalled out of the gate. And now we’re learning why.

Originally slated to air as this season’s 15th episode, the change-of-pace installment was set to sequester the couple in a car as they journey to Green Bay, Wis., for a case. In addition to featuring some serious one-on-one time between the detectives, the outing was also supposed to shed light on both Lindsay and Halstead’s backstories, star Jesse Lee Sofer previously previewed. »
