Farewell to a Legend.

Photographed in the Welsh valleys in 2009. The final pass of the day from one of my local aircraft from RAF Wittering. The last time I had a decent view of this fantastic aircraft before they were retired in 2010.

Hi,
Great shot. That's a HS Harrier isn't it? Have they developed an upgraded/ replacement VTOL aircraft?

It's an RAF Harrier GR.7. I was really sad to see them retired, as it was the ultimate show-stealer whenever it appeared! The F-35 that is due to come into service in a few years, looks like a bit of a dog, but I'll be glad to see the RAF inventory increase again.

Very nice. Is the ground blurred in PP or because you were panning?

One thing I will do to deemphasize the background is to mask the aircraft and desaturate the "other" objects like people standing around a static display. I dont consider it too unethical. :)

This is how it came from the camera. To be totally honest, I'd never pointed a camera at an aircraft before my two days on the valleys. Not as many keepers as I would have liked, but some amazing memories! :)
