What is Project Success?

Project Success offers first-time freshmen who place slightly below the University’s admission standards the opportunity to
sharpen their academic skill set by completing up to 9 credits during five weeks in the summer — JUNE 26-JULY 29, 2016 —
and participating in a comprehensive academic development learning community throughout their first year.

  • Five-week intensive summer program with the opportunity to earn up to 9 college credits in English, math and reading
  • Academic, social, cultural and professional development workshops
  • Assigned mentor for the summer and the academic year
  • Mandatory tutoring and supplemental instruction for the first year

Cost

  • $2,500, which includes up to 9 University credits, room and board, administrative fees and weekend activities.
  • In addition to the cost of the program, students should be prepared to purchase their own books. The cost may range between $300 and $400.

Student Expectations

  • Successful completion of the freshman year with a 2.0 GPA or better in order to continue as a DSU student
  • Effective time management
  • Commitment to attending all classes
  • Communication with professors, mentors, tutors and supplemental instruction leaders on a regular basis
  • Attendance of 10 academic workshops sponsored by University College (five during the fall and five during the spring semesters)

What are my next steps?

  • Step 1: Confirm your acceptance with the Office of Admissions.
  • Step 2: Submit your nonrefundable $500 program deposit by May 20, 2016, to secure your slot.
  • Step 3: Attend New Student Orientation and complete Project Success paperwork.
  • Step 4: Complete the full payment for the program.

Apply for financial assistance by April 15, 2016

SUMMER: You may request financial assistance for Project Success by completing the 2015-2016 FAFSA at fafsa.ed.gov. The University will inform you if you have been approved for summer financial aid.

FALL: The 2016-2017 FAFSA must be filed separately for the fall 2016 semester. 

Payments may be made in installments
If paying in cash, you may make payments in installments. The suggested payment
schedule below will allow appropriate time for payment processing.
