Coming off of an Oscar win for “The Big Short,” screenwriter Charles Randolph has signed a drama development deal with Amazon Studios and is working on a series with the streaming service, Variety has learned.
Randolph will develop an hourlong project, which is described as a multifaceted realistic look at what it would take to create a present day civil war in the United States of America. Aside from Randolph, no other creatives nor cast has been attached to the project.
Last month, Randolph won the Academy Award for best adapted screenplay for “The Big Short,” which he co-wrote with director Adam McKay. His other credits include “Love & Other Drugs,” which starred Anna Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal, plus “The Interpreter,” in which Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn starred.
The project marks Randolph’s first series work. He is repped by CAA.
