Spoiler alert: Do not read unless you’ve watched the season-one finale of “Better Call Saul.”
Season one of AMC’s “Breaking Bad” prequel “Better Call Saul” came to a close last night with Bob Odenkirk’s Jimmy McGill seemingly leaving behind any notions of trying to be a decent and honorable member of the legal profession. Variety spoke with “Saul” co-creator Peter Gould, who also wrote and directed the finale, about several key moments from the episode and what’s in store for season two.
The opening-title image for the finale was Saul’s famous World’s Greatest Lawyer coffee cup falling to the ground and smashing. Any special significance to that choice?
We had this idea during production of a different image behind the titles every week. We had quite a few, but this one was actually shot on one of the last days of production. We happened »

I was really pleased with the season finale of "Better Call Saul," and even more pleased with the first season as a whole. (In my review last night, I suggested it had gone a long way towards the "Frasier" end of the spin-off spectrum than the "AfterM*A*S*H" one.) But I did wonder where exactly the show goes from here, if Jimmy McGill had apparently committed to his Slippin' Jimmy persona, which seems just a hop, step and a jump away from Saul Goodman. "Saul" co-creator Peter Gould, though, suggests we shouldn't assume too much about Jimmy's decision just yet, and said that as he, Vince Gilligan and the show's other writers work on the 13-episode second season, they're wrestling with a challenge they didn't expect to face: "We like Saul Goodman, but we love Jimmy McGill." Earlier this afternoon, we spoke about how much of Slippin' Jimmy we should expect next year, »

As a fan of Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul's Michael Mando is clearly relishing his role on its spinoff. The actor recently stopped by our La studios to talk about having Bob Odenkirk as a mentor and living up to the hype around the show. Despite playing a tough guy on the series, he also admitted to having a slight fear of snakes, which happen to be plentiful on the New Mexico set. Catch Better Call Saul Monday nights on AMC. »

Slippin' Jimmy slides even further down that slippery moral slope in this week's entertaining episode of Better Call Saul...
This review contains spoilers.
1.4 Hero
“You’re the kind of lawyer guilty people hire,” Betsy Kettleman tells Jimmy McGill, matter-of-factly. It’s one of comparatively few instances in another very good episode of Better Call Saul where someone straightforwardly tells someone else the truth. Mostly, from the Kettlemans burbling about “human slavery” to Jimmy trying way too hard to convince his brother that nothing dodgy is afoot, it’s wall-to-wall bullshitting, with people lying to themselves and to each other left, right and centre.
What’s more, Jimmy knows that it’s true. You can see it in his eyes, and in what it spurs him on to do. His blustering and attempts to take umbrage at the very idea of someone offering him a bribe are half-hearted at best, but »

[Warning: Spoilers ahead for Monday's episode of Better Call Saul, "Hero."] This list of pepole Jimmy (Bob Odenkirk) has ticked off is growing fast. On Monday's Better Call Saul, he duped Howard (Patrick Fabian) into making Jimmy look like a hero and accepted a bribe from The Kettlemans (Julie Ann Emery and Jeremy Shamos), becoming party to their embezzlement crime. In Breaking Bad, Walter (Bryan Cranston) constantly had to keep tabs of multiple players, and sometimes it was the ones he didn't initially worry about that grew into major threats. In Saul, Nacho (Michael Mando) seems to be a strong

If you're in a bind, then you'd better call Saul. But if Jimmy McGill is in trouble -- he's calling Nacho.
After only three episodes, we at ETonline are wildly obsessed with AMC's Breaking Bad prequel, Better Call Saul, starring the incomparable Bob Odenkirk, and the best part is that this addicting drama is only just beginning.
Michael Mando -- best known to Orphan Black fans as Vic, Sarah's drug-dealing ex -- is leaving the world of clones behind, and fully embracing his badass side as Nacho Varga, the right-hand-man to one of the most iconic villains in Breaking Bad history: Tuco Salamanca (Raymond Cruz).
"To understand what makes a man like that tick is very interesting," Mando told ETonline of stepping into his new on-screen alter ego. "Someone who is that intelligent, and patient, and dangerous is very interesting. I always find myself asking what is his objective and how does one become like that?"

AMC has great expectations for the Better Call Saul series. They've already renewed it for a second season so fans won't have to worry about it being cancelled for quite awhile. But, will this show be a success in the ratings? Stay tuned.
A prequel to the Breaking Bad TV series, Better Call Saul is set six years before Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) became Walter White's lawyer. The rest of the cast includes Jonathan Banks, Michael McKean, Patrick Fabian, Rhea Seehorn, and Michael Mando.
