Take a look at the new poster for the new documentary about filmmaker Brian De Palma, titled simply just De Palma, from directors Noah Baumbach and Jake Paltrow. Must Watch: First Trailer for Nate Parker's Film 'The Birth of a Nation'

"Brethren - I pray you sing a new song." Fox Searchlight has debuted the first trailer for Nate Parker's The Birth of a Nation, the film about a slave uprising in Virginia in 1831 that won the Audience Award & Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival this year (read my glowing review). This is the film that earned rave reviews and heaps of praise for Nate Parker, who stars as Nat Turner, and also wrote/directed/produced the film. The feature cast includes Aunjanue Ellis, Armie Hammer, Jackie Earle Haley, Gabrielle Union, Mark Boone Junior, Penelope Ann Miller and Aja Naomi King. The song in the beginning is wonderful, I just wanted it to play for the rest of the trailer. I highly recommend taking a look. Second Trailer for 'Nine Lives' Featuring Kevin Spacey as a Talking Cat

15 April 2016 12:58 PM, PDT

"Mr. Fuzzypants? Look!" From the director of the Men in Black movies comes this wacky comedy - Nine Lives. We featured the first trailer for this in January, but that just a teaser. This full trailer shows more of the story involving Kevin Spacey, a wealthy executive at the top of his game, who gets turned into a cat. Yes, you read that right. Christopher Walken plays the goofy pet store owner who turns him into a cat and he ends up adopted by his own family, learning lessons about living life and spending time with them. The cast includes Robbie Amell, Jennifer Garner, Teddy Sears and Cheryl Hines. This gets particularly crazy when the cat starts doing odd things that only humans can do, but it's all being played for laughs. Have fun. Review: Disney's 'The Jungle Book' Brings the Animated Classic to Life

15 April 2016 12:33 PM, PDT

There's little doubt why Disney chose their 1942 take on Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book to update for 2016 audiences. The animated movie is beloved, loaded with adventure, and bringing the story's wide array of animals to photorealistic life seems like a suitable challenge for any team of digital effects magicians, especially in the modern age. The Jungle Book isn't Disney's first attempt at adapting one of their animated classics to live action, but it's the most loyal to the original film we've seen from the studio thus far. Full of wonderful adventure and superb effects, The Jungle Book is a fantastic update that will keep fans of the original completely satisfied, especially if they love Christopher Walken's singing voice. Keeping true to Kipling's original, 1894 collection of stories, the film centers on young Mowgli, a "man cub" played by young newcomer Neel Sethi. Mowgli has been raised from infancy by »

Another New UK Teaser for Nicolas Winding Refn's 'The Neon Demon'

15 April 2016 8:22 AM, PDT

"I am dangerous." This film looks crazy! But I'm excited to see it. Like some kind of wicked mix of Beyond the Black Rainbow and Suspiria with a dash of Elle Fanning. After it was announced that Nicolas Winding Refn's The Neon Demon will be world premiering at the Cannes Film Festival this year, Amazon Studios dropped the first official teaser trailer. Now Icon Films in the UK has followed up with their brief 30-second teaser for The Neon Demon and it's quite different. There's a weird symbol that pops up on screen every few seconds, plus more violence and eerie imagery and other creepy women. There's a shot of Keanu Reeves. And there's some nudity, so don't watch this one at work. Compare it to the first Us trailer here and enjoy. Trailer for Brian Petsos' Short Film 'Lightningface' Starring Oscar Isaac

14 April 2016 9:36 PM, PDT

"Just one week ago, everything was so different." This looks a bit crazy. I'm not usually fond of posting trailers for short films, but I couldn't help it with this one - it has Poe Dameron in it! An official trailer has debuted for a short film called Lightningface, starring actor Oscar Isaac as Basil Stitt. The description says that "in the aftermath of an inexplicable incident", he locks himself in his apartment goes through one helluva transformation. This trailer has definitely piqued my interest, I'm just curious when we'll be able to actually see the full short film and how long it will be. Hoping this film has quite a bit to say. Watch below. Here's the official trailer for Brian Petsos' Lightningface, direct from Vimeo (found via The Playlist): Official synopsis: An origin story, of sorts--Lightningface stars Oscar Isaac as Basil Stitt, who in the aftermath of an inexplicable incident, »

Watch This: First Trailer for Nicolas Winding Refn's 'The Neon Demon'

14 April 2016 3:35 PM, PDT

"You know what my mother used to call me? Dangerous." Amazon has released the first official trailer for Nicolas Winding Refn's latest film, The Neon Demon, which was announced today as an In-Competition film playing at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. Elle Fanning stars as Jesse, a beautiful aspiring model in Los Angeles whose youth and vitality are devoured by a group of beauty-obsessed women. The cast includes Jena Malone, Keanu Reeves, Christina Hendricks, Elle Fannning, Abbey Lee, Bella Heathcote, Desmond Harrington and Karl Glusman. This looks very dark and creepy, but I like what I'm seeing, very mysterious and intriguing. Love the score, the dialogue makes me smile, can't wait to see it at Cannes. James Cameron Announces Four 'Avatar' Sequels Now in the Works

14 April 2016 3:13 PM, PDT

Whoa! Get ready to spend a lot of time on Pandora over the next decade. At CinemaCon 2016 in Las Vegas, James Cameron made a surprise appearance at the convention during the 20th Century Fox presentation. He was there to talk about the theatrical experience and how important it is to preserve that, but also took a moment to provide an update on Avatar. While we know they have been planning three sequels, Cameron admitted that they just kept writing more and more and now they are planning four Avatar sequels. The first one will be out in Christmas 2018, the next one in Christmas 2020, and the final two in Christmas 2022 and 2023. This is going to be one crazy epic sci-fi saga going head-to-head against Star Wars. Excited yet? In addition to announcing the sequels, Fox revealed a new logo (above) and quickly showed some concept art on screen during the presentation. »

The official selection for the 2016 Cannes Film Festival was just announced, and one of the films playing there this year is the latest work from Park Chan-wook, who was last at Cannes in 2009 with his film Thirst. The cast includes Ha Jung-woo, Kim Min-hee, Jo Jin-woong and Kim Tae Ri. I'm looking forward to seeing this in Cannes. In the meantime, these posters are gorgeous, truly stunning and I hope they bring more attention to this film over the next few months once it premieres. Hello, Major. Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks have revealed the first official photo from the upcoming Ghost in the Shell movie, marking the beginning of production with this debut. The cast also includes Michael Pitt, Michael Wincott, Pilou Asbæk and Takeshi Kitano. Second Teaser for Japan's 'Godzilla: Resurgence' Reveals the Big Guy

13 April 2016 6:32 PM, PDT

Time to meet Japan's new Godzilla. The second brief teaser trailer has just debuted online for Godzilla: Resurgence, the new Godzilla movie from Toho Company directed by Hideaki Anno & Shinji Higuchi. We featured the first 30-second teaser for this late last year and it didn't really show much of the big lizard monster, but this time they're not holding back revealing him entirely. The look of this Godzilla still has that kind-of-cheesy man-in-suit feeling, but that seems to be on purpose. He's still extremely huge and still very violent, but looks completely different from Hollywood's Godzilla monster. If you're curious - check this out. Second teaser trailer for Hideaki Anno & Shinji Higuchi's Godzilla: Resurgence, direct from YouTube: It was originally reported that Toho Company is working on a new Godzilla movie of their own (separate from Gareth Edwards' most recent Hollywood version and the impending Godzilla »

Need a Private Investigator? See the New TV Spot for 'The Nice Guys'

13 April 2016 11:03 AM, PDT

"They're not that nice." This looks like so much crazy, wild, wicked fun! Shane Black doing what he does best - making R-rated comedies. Warner Bros has debuted another new TV spot for Shane Black's The Nice Guys, the 70's action comedy starring Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe. This is a cool TV spot because they set it up like an old TV commercial for the "Nice Guys Detective Agency", including a phone number you can actually call. We saw more footage from this at CinemaCon in Las Vegas and it seriously looks hilarious, I can't wait. Crowe said that Ryan Gosling channels Gene Wilder in this, and he laughed more on the set during filming than he has the rest of his entire career. I'm there opening night. Fire this up below. Must Watch: First Teaser Trailer for Marvel's 'Doctor Strange' Movie

13 April 2016 3:00 AM, PDT

"Forget everything that you think you know." Disney has unveiled a teaser trailer for Marvel's Doctor Strange, which just finished shooting in New York City last week. Benedict Cumberbatch stars as the Sorcerer Supreme, a comic book superhero that gains his special powers after meeting The Ancient One, played by Tilda Swinton. The full cast features Rachel McAdams, Mads Mikkelsen, Scott Adkins, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Stuhlbarg and Benedict Wong. This is just a teaser so they don't reveal too much (including his full cape costume) but what we do see looks pretty damn cool. A bit of The Matrix, a bit of Inception, and lots of Benedict Cumberbatch. I'm looking forward to this more than the next Avengers. Here's the first official trailer for Scott Derrickson's Doctor Strange, from Disney's YouTube: Benedict Cumberbatch plays Doctor Strange and Tilda Swinton plays The Ancient One. 12 April 2016 6:00 PM, PDT

"How you been, old timer?" "Paralyzed!" Universal has debuted another new trailer for The Secret Life of Pets, the upcoming animated comedy from Illumination Entertainment following a group of pets who get into some crazy trouble while their owners are out at work. This full-length "international" trailer finally focuses on the actual two main characters - two dogs who aren't really friends because one is new, and they break out and get into even more trouble when they meet up with other pets. The main voices include Louis C.K., Kevin Hart, Lake Bell, Ellie Kemper, Jenny Slate, Albert Brooks and Eric Stonestreet. The more we see from this movie, the better it looks (I love dogs!), I'm already excited to check it out in theaters. Second Teaser Trailer for J.A. Bayona's Monster Movie 'A Monster Calls'

12 April 2016 11:24 AM, PDT

"That tree is amazing... Its been here for thousands of years." Focus Features has debuted a second teaser trailer for J.A. Bayona's new monster movie called A Monster Calls, about a tree monster voiced by Liam Neeson who helps a young kid deal with bullying and the challenges of real life. The first teaser trailer for this was so impressive it was considered a must watch, and this new trailer is also incredible (despite the VFX needing a bit more work). The boy is played by Lewis MacDougall, and the cast features Sigourney Weaver, Toby Kebbell, and Felicity Jones as his Mum. Highly recommend watching this teaser below. Watch: First Trailer for John le Carré Adaptation 'Our Kind of Traitor'

11 April 2016 6:58 PM, PDT

"You won't get another opportunity like this." Lionsgate & Roadside Attractions have released the trailer for Our Kind of Traitor, adapted from the John le Carré novel of the same name (other recent John le Carré adaptations include Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and A Most Wanted Man). Starring Ewan McGregor and Naomie Harris, this thriller is about an unsuspecting English couple that get looped into deep Russian mafia trickery while on vacation. Also starring Damian Lewis, Stellan Skarsgård, Jeremy Northam, Alicia von Rittberg and Mark Stanley. Maybe I'm just not a big John le Carré fan, or maybe the scripts get watered down in translation, but these stories all seem a bit bland to me. I'm still curious to check it out. First Behind-the-Scenes Video Featurette for Luc Besson's 'Valerian'

11 April 2016 3:53 AM, PDT

"Every particle of your body will be blown away!" Now this looks amazing! My kind of science fiction. MTV has also debuted a new behind-the-scenes featurette (in addition to Kong: Skull Island) for Luc Besson's Valerian, or Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, starring Dane DeHaan & Cara Delevingne. The video features MTV's Josh Horowitz on a tour of the Valerian sets in France, speaking with director Luc Besson about the production and the casting and everything. As a huge fan of The Fifth Element, I can't wait for this - big, gritty, futuristic sci-fi and it looks awesome. I love the outfits, and details like the little futuristic gizmo on DeHaan's neck. There are so many tiny things to pick up on in this footage - enjoy! Here's the first behind-the-scenes featurette for Luc Besson's new sci-fi Valerian, direct from MTV: In Luc Besson's Valerian, »

11 April 2016 3:38 AM, PDT

"What the hell is this place?" Now they have my attention. Universal has debuted a new featurette for the upcoming Kong: Skull Island movie, showing some behind-the-scenes production footage inbetween interviews and talks with various people involved in the movie. This is the very first time we're seeing any footage from this, so it's exciting to see, especially knowing this eventually all leads to Kong vs Godzilla. The cast includes Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, John Ortiz, Shea Whigham and many others, all being directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts. The scenery looks very impressive and I am intrigued to see more finished footage from this, but I do have a good feeling about it. Take a look.
