Kidnap: new trailer for Halle Berry's action thriller

24 August 2016 12:20 AM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Ryan Lambie Aug 24, 2016

Halle Berry drives quickly in the new trailer for the action thriller, Kidnap...

We've seen plenty of Hollywood actors attempt to emulate Liam Neeson's success with the action thriller Taken, including Kevin Costner in 3 Days To Kill and Mel Gibson in this year's Blood Father. But how about Halle Berry as an otherwise normal parent whose life is thrown through a loop when her son goes missing in a busy playground? That's the nightmare scenario presented in Kidnap, the forthcoming thriller from Spanish director Luis Prieto (he previously brought us the Pusher remake).

Okay, so Kidnap doesn't quite have the neck-snappings and discharged guns of the Taken series, but it has plenty of car chases and, in true Neeson style, Berry gets her own, "You've messed with the wrong person" monologue to the bad guys. From what we can gather, the movie takes the form of »

Halle Berry Has No Time to Wait in the Trailer for Kidnap

23 August 2016 3:46 PM, PDT | Filmonic.com | See recent Filmonic news »

In the upcoming thriller Kidnap Halle Berry plays a mother ready to do anything to get her kidnapped son back, including going in reverse on a freeway. This is the sort of stuff that would make Taken Liam Neeson proud. But seriously, Kidnap seems to be in the same vein, and hopefully it has just the right amount of […]

Watch: Halle Berry Is Like the Anti-Liam Neeson In First 'Kidnap' Trailer

23 August 2016 | Movies.com | See recent Movies.com news »

Person gets kidnapped, someone who cares about said kidnapped person comes looking for them. It's a hard movie formula to mess up, plus when it's done right it can be hugely successful. Like Taken. Not only did that spawn a franchise (and soon a TV series), but it also gave us one of the best phone conversations ever captured on film: "I can tell you I don't have money, but what I do have is a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you." Now take the exact opposite of that conversation and you've got the premise of Kidnap, a movie where Halle Berry plays an ordinary mom with no particular set of skills. Heck, she doesn't even have a cell phone because...

Don't even think about kidnapping Halle Berry's son!

22 August 2016 2:17 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Clip It: Each day, Jon Davis looks at the world of trailers, featurettes, and clips and puts it all in perspective. If you were considering kidnapping Halle Berry's child, let this trailer stand as a warning: Don't do it. And by the way, what's wrong with you? Why are you even mulling that over?  Kidnap looks like a great B movie. And that's not an insult. B movies have a long and grand tradition in film. In fact, B movies are the true heart of American cinema. You probably know all this, but as a refresher, B movies used to be the shorter movies that theaters would play along with the main feature event. So if you went to the theater to see a period drama, you might have seen goofy shorts and reels about aliens and super heroes. Of course, now those B movies, thanks to George Lucas, »

Coming Distractions: The trailer for Kidnap is a parent’s worst nightmare

22 August 2016 10:28 AM, PDT | avclub.com | See recent The AV Club news »

Trigger warning for anybody who has a kid, knows a kid, once met a kid, or ever was a kid. This trailer for Kidnap is essentially that nagging fear that is constantly running in the background of every parent’s brain, but amplified by a thousand and then condensed into two minutes. Halle Berry plays a woman who brings her aggressively adorable child to a crowded playground while ominously placid guitar chords flit through the soundtrack. Given the title of the movie, you can probably assume what happens next. The gentle plucking music gives way to machinist clangs and bwomps, and the terrified mother spends the rest of the preview ignoring protocol and causing traffic accidents while chasing after the unfamiliar car she saw her son pushed into.

Directed by Spanish-born filmmaker Luis Prieto (Pusher) from a screenplay by first-time feature writer (and Bad Grandpa associate producer) Knate Gwaltney, this »

Halle Berry leaps into action when her young son is dragged into a stranger’s car in the first trailer for her new thriller “Kidnap.” Relativity, which still has not set a release date for the movie beyond “winter,” released the trailer on Monday as part of the marketing rollout of its movie slate since emerging from bankruptcy earlier this year. Ryan Kavanaugh‘s studio had set a December 2 release date as recently as mid-May. Halle Berry Is Not To Be Trifled With In First Trailer For Kidnap

22 August 2016 9:38 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Three years ago, Brad Anderson thriller The Call placed Halle Berry on the other end of the line as a veteran emergency call operator, one tasked with rescuing a hapless young woman. Fast forward to now and the Oscar-winner is ready to face her own hostage situation in Kidnap, Luis Prieto’s upcoming thriller that has been aligned for an early December release.

Entering full kick-ass mode, Halle Berry plays Karla McCoy, a mother who goes on something of a rampage when her young son is kidnapped from a local park.

Drawing from her own experiences, Kidnap presented a role that Berry relished from the off, delving into high-octane action often reserved for the likes of, say, Liam Neeson or Arnold Schwarzenegger – one-liners and all.

“Being a parent, I understood this in a very visceral way. I play an ordinary mom forced to act in extraordinary ways. I got to »

Halle Berry Is Desperate and Driving Backward in ‘Kidnap’ First Trailer

22 August 2016 9:32 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Halle Berry is on a desperate quest to save her kidnapped son in the first trailer for “Kidnap” — even driving backward in freeway traffic.

The trailer begins pleasantly in an amusement park with Berry’s character playing Marco Polo with her son, portrayed by Sage Correa. That’s shattered as the son is snatched away with Berry unsuccessfully grabbing on to a turquoise-colored sedan as it pulls away from the parking lot.

She alerts the police, but winds up taking matters into her own hands and relentlessly pursuing the sedan for the rest of the trailer.

“Wherever you go, I will find you,” she declares. “You took the wrong kid.”

Luis Prieto (“Condon Express”) is directing from a script by Knate Gwaltney. Relativity bought distribution rights for “Kidnap” at the 2014 Toronto Film Festival, then delayed its release several times as it went through a bankruptcy reorganization last year.

Halle Berry will do anything to save her son in first trailer for KidnapHalle Berry will do anything to save her son in first trailer for KidnapAdriana Floridia8/22/2016 11:01:00 Am

Somebody kidnapped the wrong kid.

In the first trailer for Kidnap, Halle Berry returns to her action roots in playing the fiercest mom we've ever seen. In what looks to be almost a spin on the Liam Neeson film, Taken, here it's a mother who will do anything to save her child, who is kidnapped at the park.

The trailer showcases epic car chases and non-stop action, as this woman is pushed to the edge while everyone around her is extremely unhelpful. We can't wait to see Berry giving it her all as an unstoppable mother.

Check out the first trailer for Kidnap below, and see the film in Cineplex theatres on December 2nd.

Halle Berry in First Trailer for Kidnapping Vengeance Thriller 'Kidnap'

22 August 2016 8:55 AM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

"You took the wrong kid!" Holy crap! Relativity Studios has debuted a wild trailer for the kidnapper thriller titled – yes, this straightforward – Kidnap. The film stars Halle Berry as a passionate mother who stops at nothing to recover her kidnapped son. This is an odd trailer because it spends so much time setting up the first act of the film, then flashes a few glimpses of what happens later, but relies mostly on the fear and intense emotions of having a child taken. Will it be any good? Hard to tell. Also starring Sage Correa, Lew Temple, Dana Gourrier, Christopher Berry and Chris McGinn. I'm not sure about this - take a look. Here's the first official trailer for Luis Prieto's Kidnap, direct from Relativity's YouTube: "Let me tell you something - as long as my son is in that car, I will not stop! Wherever you go - »

This winter, director Luis Prieto delivers one of the most harrowing thrillers of the year. Halle Berry is in a race against time to save the one she loves the most in Kidnap! Today, we have the first exciting trailer, which arrives from Relativity. Will you be able to hold your breath long enough for Halle Berry to come through?

This first trailer made its debut on USA Today. Halle Berry is playing a frantic mother in desperate search for her son. Karla McCoy and her young boy are enjoying a fun trip to the park when Frankie is abducted. This forces Karla to set off on a rescue mission that has her driving in reverse on the highway, swinging a lethal shovel, and uttering the classic Schwarzenegger-like line 'You took the wrong kid!' About this particular scene, Berry says this.

"That's my Arnold moment. I'm strong with the shovel. »
