The Canon PowerShot SX720 IS comes with an all-new 40x, F3.3-6.9 zoom lens, achieving a 35mm-equivalent zoom range of 24-960mm. Chinese lens adapter manufacturer Kipon has said it is producing a new model that will allow Canon EF lenses to fit on Sony A-series mirrorless bodies while maintaining their AF functionality. The Kipon EF-S/E AF ND lens adapter also comes provided with a slot-in four-stop graduated neutral density filter that can be fitted into the body of the ring. Read more
Cambo has devised a new Canon EF/EF-S lens plate for its Actus view camera system that allows users to control aperture settings on Canon EOS lenses. The Cambo Actus system is designed to deliver a view camera style of shooting to some mirrorless camera bodies, consisting of a lens plate and a body plate with bellows and a monorail in between. Canon has refreshed its midrange superzoom lineup with the new PowerShot SX540 HS and SX420 IS. The former has the same design and 24-1200mm lens as the SX530 that came before it but adds more pixels and processing power, 1080/60p video and a new feature which keeps a subject centered at full telephoto. Canon has added to its EOS 5D range with the launch of two 50MP cameras, the 5DS and the 5DS R. Both cameras are high-resolution full frame models, primarily aimed at stills photographers. The only difference between the models is that the 'S' has an optical low-pass filter, while the 'S R' has a self-cancelling filter (the same relationship as Nikon's D800 and D800E models shared). Phottix has launched its Laso Flash Trigger System today for the Canon RT Wireless radio flash system and the camera maker's non-radio E-TTL flashes. Canon is clearly in a forward-looking frame of mind: announcing more development projects that it has under way. These include a 120MP DSLR and a Cinema EOS camera that can shoot 8K video.
