HEALTH SCIENCES LIBRARY

Located in the Hammer Building on Columbia's Medical Center campus, the Augustus C. Long Health Sciences Library serves Columbia University's schools of medicine, dentistry, nursing, and public health, as well as other health care, instructional and research programs at Columbia University Medical Center and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. The Library offers a variety of educational programs and services. NEW YORK STATE PSYCHIATRIC INSTITUTE LIBRARY

The library houses a unique collection specializing in the literature of psychiatry and mental health. As one of the largest psychiatric libraries in the nation, it holds approximately 35,000 volumes and subscribes to over 450 periodicals. The collection emphasizes the multidisciplinary aspect of the Institute. Most source material is in psychiatry, but many books and journals can also be found in psychoanalysis, psychology and neuroscience. Reference services feature computerized bibliographic retrieval. The major databases in the mental health field, including MEDLINE and PSYCINFO, are delivered with menu-driven, user-friendly interfaces, and are available to all clientele. Borrowing privileges are extended to employees of PI and the New York Presbyterian Hospital, students and others not employed at PI or the NYPH may read in the library but cannot borrow.

THE PATIENT & FAMILY LIBRARY & LEARNING CENTER

The Patient & Family Library & Learning Center is an information center designed to meet the needs of mental health consumers, their families, and their friends. It's a healing place. The library has a breathtaking view of the Hudson River, and it is an ideal place to spend some time gaining insight and information regarding mental illness from a scientific and an emotional perspective. Visitors are welcome to browse our collection of videos, books, and pamphlets at leisure. The Library provides mental health information on disorders, treatments, community resources, and coping.  It's located at the New York State Psychiatric Institute, 1051 Riverside Drive, Room 5701.  Telephone number  212-543-6713.

THE ETHEL S. PERSON PSYCHOANALYTIC LIBRARY

THE ETHEL S. PERSON PSYCHOANALYTIC LIBRARY of the Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and ResearchLibrarian: Judy Mars This library collects and catalogs books, papers, journals, and audio visuals by and about Sigmund Freud and psychoanalysis. It maintains a collection of approximately 3000 books and many of the major psychoanalytic journals. Our library is for the exclusive use of candidates and faculty of the Psychoanalytic Center to support their clinical, educational, research and publication activities. Requests for outside use of the Library will be assessed on an individual basis.
