James confronts Caiaphas and wins concessions for the disciples. The Zealot army grows but their Ethiopian backer turns to Jesus. When Peter resurrects Tabitha many more are drawn to His message.
Rise Up is the penultimate episode of A.D. The Bible Continues. The important events that are about to transpire in it includes the growth of the zealot army;the conversion of many Gentiles into becoming Christians after Peter raised Tabitha back to life; and the confrontation between James and Caiaphas.
The number of members of the Zealot Army has risen in number to protect the temple from desecration coming from the new Roman Emperor,Caligula. Also,we get to witness Tabitha being tortured by getting flogged by the Romans after becoming a Christian convert and getting killed because of it.But Peter comes to her rescue by saying,"Get Up" and becomes alive again. Also,we get to witness a lot from Caiaphas from his confrontation and negotiation with James to end the persecution of the early Christians and his involvement with the Zealot Army. Also,we get to see him uncharacteristically protecting the early Christians by withholding some information that he knows from Pilate. In the end,the political machinations of the early Christians become central to the story.
Just like the previous episode, the political intrigue and machinations that the early Christians were involved it has become central to the story.I think that is basically the theme of the whole series. We are treated with having seen the important people of Acts Of The Apostles but their actions as well as their contributions in the early Christian movement has been told in montages.Although we get to see Peter raise someone in life and the sufferings the Christian converts experience like that of Tabitha, the writers have definitely made it stay in the background instead of providing the reasons on what made Christianity appealing to the people but the political and religious strife they had to contend with during the early days.
