Is mFT for me? Need advice...

Not sure if this is the right forum to ask this, but since it relates to mFT here goes...

I'm taking a trip to New Orleans in May, and I really would like to get a new camera- not just for the trip, but because it's time.

I'm still using a 6 year old Canon Powershot G11, which is pretty much unusable at >ISO 400, and takes horrible video.

I'm wondering if an upgrade to 1", mFT, or larger is for me. Or not.

I have been looking at Olympus, Panasonic and Sony, along with some of the 1" sensor compacts from Sony and Canon. I'm willing to spend up to about $1200, and I would rather get new vs a refurb.

My short list(s) for the moment, and I am researching pretty much all the models from all the manufacturers, with mFT being in the lead.

MILC:

Olympus OMD 10 Mark II with kit pancake zoom lens
Panasonic GX7, which I can only find body only- what lens????
Sony a6000 with 16-50 kit (yes I know- APS-C)

GX7 is discontinued and hard to find, GX8 has no built in flash, but I like the design of these two much more than the mini-DSLR look of the Oly. Just personal taste, but I could live with the mini-DSLR look if I had to...

Large sensor compact:

Canon Powershot G7X
Canon Powershot G1X Mark II
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 II-IV

I carry my G11 everywhere in my purse. I have a moderately large purse, but size is still a factor which is why I'm looking at cameras with compact kit zooms.

I am not a beginner, but I am NOT on the level of most of you people. I use my G11 on manual and regularly adjust SS & aperture, ISO, EV+-, etc, etc. I also came from the film days and still have an ancient Nikon FTn and an Olympus OM4-T film SLR sitting in my closet. So yes, I understand the basics of photography.

I do NOT want to go back to carrying a camera and a bag full of lenses.

I want a walking around camera that I can take with me all the time, that is reasonably good in low light, and that has a decent kit zoom.

IOW- I want something better than my G11.

Here are my requirements:

Fit's in my purse with kit zoom lens attached- halfway decent kit lens (Sony 16-50 looks bad from everything I've seen- vignetting and soft around the edges)

Decent sensor 1" or larger, with usable results at ISO 1600 without having to do any PP'ing

Image stabilization

Good OOC jpeg's

Movable LCD- either flip out or fully articulated, but should be able to be angled down for overhead shots (Canon G7X doesn't have this)

Built-in flash for fills

Silent shutter mode- this is a must!!!

Good video. No need for anything more than 1080.

Viewfinder??? I don't know. I wear glasses, and don't use the one on my G11 much, but there are rare times when I need it...

I do not want to use a prime lens. Been there, done that, I want an all purpose lens for everyday use. A zoom, even a short one, is much more flexible in that regard.

Now, one would think I should go with a compact. I thought the same thing thing. I would have gone with a Powershot G1X Mark II, but I've read that the lens is very soft on that camera, and it's $699 from most decent vendors.

$700 for a glorified P&S with a soft lens and an outdated sensor? Seriously? For $100 more I could get the Olympus OMD 10 Mark II with 14-42 pancake zoom. Or an Olympus EPL-6 with 2 lenses for $399- brand new!

The Sony RX100's are even higher, except for the RX100 v2.

It just galls me that these fixed lens compacts are as much as, or even more than- some ILC lens cameras and makes me wonder if an ILC might be a better investment. If the above compact cameras were $300 we wouldn't be having this conversation. I think they're horrendously overpriced for what they are, and they allow no room for expansion at all.

I have no dog in this fight. I have no digital ILC at the moment and no lenses, except for my ancient 35mm ones. I also don't do much in the way of PP'ing or printing.

Two things concern me *very* much in regards to an ILC: shutter shock, and banding when using the e-shutter at low SS in artificial light.

I do like to take low light pictures, many in artificial light, and often in quiet places where I need a silent mode. But from pouring over a lot of the threads regarding e-shutter banding, this now concerns me- a lot.

When one person posted about having to use a mathematical formula to figure out what shutter speed to use under what lighting conditions and the frequency of lighting cycles in US vs European vs Asia electrical systems my head started to hurt and my brain simply shut down.

I can't add 2+2; having to go through this kind of thing every time I want to use a low shutter speed in low light with artificial lighting just to achieve a silent shutter is beyond my comprehension.

So although horrendously overpriced, one or two of the compacts might be close to what I want. Close, but not perfect. There is no perfect camera...

Or for the same money, I could go with an ILC mirrorless, which would give me the option at some future time of expanding with maybe a nice compact telephoto for shooting wildlife. I can see where this might come in handy on vacations to Florida perhaps... a kit zoom and a telephoto will probably be all I would ever need.

I'm just wondering what advice you real experts can give me, because I have a massive headache trying to figure this all out- especially the electronic shutter problems... :-/

Thanks to all for opinions and advice.
