Greta Gerwig Is The Brains Behind Maggie’s Plan In First Trailer For Rebecca Miller’s Dramedy
59 minutes ago
See Full Gallery Here
Far too often, comedy-dramas orbit around a story of two (or more) people falling madly in love, revelling the Honeymoon period all the while tackling those emotional teething problems as they arise. But what about the period thereafter? That’s something Rebecca Miller (The Ballad Of Jack And Rose, The Private Lives Of Pippa Lee) will look to tackle in Maggie’s Plan, which places Greta Gerwig in the role of the woman with a devious scheme.
Delicate and sweet despite centering on a relationship gone awry, it’s really the creative pool of talent that Miller has assembled that lends Maggie’s Plan its innate charm. Starring as Maggie’s significant other is Ethan Hawke, a wide-eyed professor who dreams big of becoming an author, but as the story evolves it seems Hawke’s John Harding may not be marriage material after all, leading Gerwig »

8 Horror Films That Hollywood Should Remake Soon
1 hour ago
Should any film ever be remade? Well, Hollywood certainly thinks so, and there seems to be an unending supply of directors who think they can improve on what’s gone before. Whatever the final result, and of course every filmmaker sets out to make the best film they can, the new production will always be subjected to the harshest scrutiny when compared with an often loved original. Clearly unfazed by any potential negativity, studio execs seem convinced that the most suitable target for remakes is the good old horror flick.
Recently, we’ve had updated versions of well-known films that have lacked any real quality, from the disappointing (Carrie) to the downright awful (Halloween), but nevertheless this trend shows few signs of letting up.

Arguably two of the hottest actors working today, Fassbender and Vikander lead the picture as Tom and Isabel, respectively, a man and a woman desperate to cement their love for one another with a child. But after a series of miscarriages and tragic stillbirths, all hope seems lost. That is, until a boat carrying a deal man and a vulnerable baby girl washes up on shore.
Deciding to raise her as their own, Tom and Isabel go on to become surrogate parents, doting over the child as though she was a miracle. However, complications arise when the couple discover that their daughter’s true mother may still be alive. »

Chaos Rains From The Heavens In Explosive Independence Day: Resurgence Image
2 hours ago
Two full decades after the War of 1996, Earth is under fire once more. Roland Emmerich is back at the helm for Independence Day: Resurgence and going by today’s hellish teaser image, the director hasn’t lost his aptitude for full-blown global destruction.
Arriving by way of Empire, the still is essentially a high-res screengrab from the sequel’s Super Bowl trailer, showcasing that alien technology has come an awful long way in twenty Earth years. Whereas Emmerich’s blockbuster original rained destruction down on the planet’s more prominent landmarks, Resurgence will literally blow entire cityscapes sky-high, and it looks as though the Dubai’s Burj Khalifa – the tallest building in the world – has been relocated to London.
Fending off the new invasion are Liam Hemsworth’s newcomer and Jessie Usher, with the latter on board to play the role of Will Smith’s stepson. Indeed, the actor’s »

First Look Promo For The Flash Season 2, Episode 16 Released
12 hours ago
Well, what an episode that was, eh? After doing an incredible job of introducing a fully CGI King Shark (it’s going to be a while before The Flash is able to top that battle scene which took place in the ocean), the show finally pulled back the curtain on Zoom by unmasking the villain.
Unfortunately, the series is now taking a hiatus until late next month, and we’re going to be left thinking about that shocking cliffhanger for weeks. Still, it’s pretty clear from the promo above that things in Central City aren’t going to be slowing down any time soon.

Spartacus Creator Steven S. DeKnight To Direct Pacific Rim 2
13 hours ago
Some bittersweet news here tonight, folks. Deadline is reporting that Legendary Pictures has found a director for the long-awaited Pacific Rim 2, but unfortunately, it’s not Guillermo del Toro. Instead, "Spartacus" creator Steven S. DeKnight will take the helm of the sequel.
While that’s certainly not what most fans wanted to hear, the fact that there’s been significant movement on the project is definitely a good sign (given that it’s been in development hell for a while now). Sure, del Toro may not be returning to direct, but at least things are back on track with Pacific Rim 2 now, which means that it should start to barrel towards a production start date sooner rather than later.
The current script was penned by Jon Spaihts, and while we have no plot or casting details just yet (Maisie Williams is rumored for a role though, and it’s likely »

Fans of Jay and Silent Bob will want to pay attention to, and perhaps even open their wallets for, this newly announced crowdfunding project for a game starring the two iconic stoners. Fittingly referred to as Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch, its funding page is live on Fig.co, and is seeking a total of $400K Usd.
A strikingly colourful, cartoon-inspired 2.5D beat ’em-up, Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch begins with the pair realizing that all of their customers have disappeared. Fearing the loss of their ever important sales, the two set out on a quest to learn of their pals’ whereabouts and end up at an Orwellian mall called the Galleria. This is more than just a mere shopping plaza, however, as it happens to house everything that humanity could possibly need in a post-wwii bunker, including a hospital, schools and apartments.

Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice To Get An R-Rated Cut On Blu-Ray
15 hours ago
While Warner Bros. was never going to take the risk of putting out an R-rated cut of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice in theatres, it appears as if the studio still plans to release one – on Blu-ray/DVD.
Likely spurred by the success of Deadpool, Warner Bros. is reportedly putting together an Ultimate Edition for the home entertainment release of Zack Snyder’s upcoming superhero flick, and it will feature an R-rated version of the film.
No word yet on what exactly this new restricted version will include, nor do we know what had to be cut to get the PG-13 in the first place, but it’s certainly exciting to think that we’re finally getting the R-rated Batman movie that we’ve always been asking for.

Zombieland 2 Is Still In Development At Sony
15 hours ago
Director Ruben Fleischer’s 2009 horror comedy, Zombieland, brilliantly blended genres and ended up becoming an unexpected hit both critically and commercially, so a sequel seemed like a no-brainer (no pun intended) at the time.
Even so, it wasn’t until over five years later that a follow-up movie was reported as being fast-tracked at Sony, with Dave Callaham on board as writer and Fleischer back in the director’s chair. And then…. everything went quiet.
Recently, however, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (who wrote the first film) were doing the press rounds for Deadpool when The Playlist took the opportunity to quiz them about the sequel, and according to them, it is still in the works:
It’s actually still in development at Sony, they’ve had a couple writers take a crack at it, we’re still exec producers and we’re guiding and helping where we can and »

Life on terraformed Mars is never easy in sci-fi lore, and that continues to be true in The Techromancer. In fact, you’ll see some of the trials, tribulations and monstrosities that await players when you check out the game’s brand new trailer, which is embedded above.
Comprised of nothing but cutscene content, this latest look at Spiders’ upcoming RPG is well worth the watch. For starters, it plays to a perfectly fitting song that you can’t help but hum along to. Then, there’s the new footage, which shows that this is a game that may well end up being worth the wait. Here’s hoping for that to be true, too, because there’s definitely potential here.
The Techromancer, which is being developed in France by a team of twenty employees and a mix of freelancers, is expected to release this summer. It’s planned for Xbox One, »

The Dark Knight Is Ready For A Fight In New Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice Image
16 hours ago
Following the release of three new character posters for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Warner Bros. has unveiled an awesome shot of Ben Affleck suited up and ready for action as the Dark Knight. Who is he waiting for? Superman, of course!
It’s interesting to note that Batman continues to have a much larger presence in the marketing materials for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice than the Man of Steel, though considering how much more successful his movies have always been when compared to those starring Superman, perhaps that shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise.

Disney’s A Wrinkle In Time To Be Helmed By Ava DuVernay
18 hours ago
Once courted for Marvel’s Black Panther film prior to Ryan Coogler being appointed at the helm, Selma director Ava DuVernay has sealed a deal to take point for a very different Disney project – A Wrinkle in Time.
Centering on Madeleine L’Engle’s fantasy novel, the 1962 classic is being adapted to the screen by Frozen writer-director Jennifer Lee. Lauded for its gripping sense of adventure, L’Engle’s book has become something of a children’s favorite, and having retained the rights for a feature film since 2010, the House of Mouse is gearing up to bring the author’s sci-fi tale to the silver screen.
Here’s a brief synopsis from A Wrinkle in Time:
A Wrinkle in Time, winner of the Newbery Medal in 1963, is the story of the adventures in space and time of Meg, Charles Wallace, and Calvin O’Keefe (athlete, student, and one of the »

Jon Bernthal Snags Role In Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver
18 hours ago
On the eve of production firing up on Edgar Wright’s crime drama Baby Driver, Daredevil actor Jon Bernthal has inked a deal to join the director’s enviable ensemble.
Deadline has the scoop, revealing that Bernthal is on board to play Griff, a key member of the star-studded picture that revolves around Ansel Elgort’s baby-faced getaway driver – hence the title. Partly inspired by the music video for Mint Royale’s “Blue Song” music video, one which Wright himself directed, Baby Driver has Elgort’s gifted speedster carry out a series of white-knuckle rides for different mobsters.
A hearing condition and his trusty personal soundtrack is enough for our unlikely hero to blur out the white noise, but things go from bad to life-threatening after one planned heist is sent careering off the rails, and it seems to have something to do with Kevin Spacey’s criminal kingpin, Doc. »
