300 f4 looks like a game changer to me.

I have always maintained that the thing that differentiates my bird pictures from the best out there is the quality of lens that I shoot with.  I think my 100-300 is a brilliant piece of kit for the money but realistically it can never compete with the bazookas that the top tier carry around with them. The difference can be described in one word oomph !

Now we have got over the negatives arising from reviews by people who don't know how to use a long lens and wouldn't know a sparrow if it landed on the end of their nose, we are seeing the samples from the early adopters. And what are we seeing, oomph and lots of it. You don't need to pixel peep just look at the shots posted in the last few days, some of them just ooze quality.

I am green with envy. Thanks to everybody who has posted. I think this lens will change attitudes to m4/3s and mirrorless considerably. The people who don't use long lenses won't understand but there are a lot of us who do.

For now I'm never likely to justify £2K+ for a lens and I don't actually want a 300mm fixed lens, it is far to restrictive for me but I think the benefit to us all from the Oly will be great.

Now I'm waiting to see what the early adopters achieve with the 100-400, not expecting results like from the Oly but a general overall improvement in what we have now and m4/3s will be flying
