International Data Exchange Portal (IDEP) Enrolment

Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA)

About this

Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) - this service enrols you for the International Data Exchange Portal (IDEP).

When to use this

You'll use the IDEP if:

  • you have registered in the United States as a financial institution under their Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) regulations, and are required to send annual FATCA disclosures.
  • you are a third-party service provider acting on behalf of financial institutions.
What you will need

To enrol in the IDEP you need to have:

  • Principal user details:
    • As the principal user you will need proof of identity. This is your IRD number or a scan of your passport/driver licence documents.
    • If you aren’t an office holder of the financial institution you will need a letter giving you authority to act on behalf of the financial institution. This must be signed by an office holder of the financial institution (you will need to scan this so you can upload it with your enrolment).
  • Financial institution details:
    • Financial institution name
    • Global Intermediary Identification Number (GIIN). This is issued by the United States Internal Revenue Services (IRS) when the financial institution registers with them.
    • Financial institution IRD number.
After you finish

You'll receive an email confirming your enrolment and advising a temporary password. This may take up to five working days.

Once you have access to IDEP, you will be able to:

  • validate and submit annual FATCA disclosure files
  • send amended FATCA disclosure files
  • view your disclosure history
  • add sub-users
  • update your account details.
