My Favourite Joke
8 September 2011 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

I have seen a few documentary style programmes like this where comedians look back on the best routines, sketches and acts in the industry that they themselves inhabit, but it is always good to see them. This one, narrated by Barbara Windsor, looks back at the most popular moments in many forms of comedy, whether it be on a comedy series, sketch show, stand up comedy, during an interview and much more. With contributions from Ronnie Ancona, Jo Brand, Kevin Bridges, Alan Carr, Frank Carson, Julian Clary, Jon Culshaw, Jack Dee, Ken Dodd, Micky Flanagan, Rhod Gilbert, Rich Hall, Nigel Havers, Lenny Henry, Phill Jupitus, Shappi Khorsandi, Sean Lock, Alistair MacGowan, Patrick 'Paddy' McGuinness, Jason Manford, Al Murray, Graham Norton, Dara O'Briain, Andi Osho, Jon Richardson, Joan Rivers, Jonathan Ross, Pamela Stephenson, Jimmy Tarbuck and Jack Whitehal. The favourite jokes from the comedians featuring include Dave Allen, Woody Allen, Acorn Antiques, Blackadder Goes Forth, Bill Connolly - Parkinson place to park bike joke, Tommy Cooper – the bottle and glass trick, Les Dawson, Jack Dee, Dick Emery, Lee Evans - Bohemian Rhapsody, French & Saunders – The Dirty Old Men, Larry Grayson, Hancock's Half Hour, Eddie Izzard – learning French, Sam Kinison, Laurel & Hardy, The Lucy Show, Steve Martin on Parkinson, Max Miller, Monty Python's Life of Brian, Morecambe and Wise with Andre Previn, Pete and Dud, Rising Damp, Richard Pryor, The Two Ronnies – Four Candles, Freddie Starr – Mick Jagger, Steven Wright and The Young Ones – University Challenge. Very good!
