Time Machine: Remember K Stewart's 'Dirty Dancing'? Fabricated Lois Lane Rumors?

6 hours ago | Alt Film Guide | See recent Alt Film Guide news »

Kristen Stewart 'On the Road' dancing, with Garrett Hedlund on the right Down memory lane: Garrett Hedlund and Kristen Stewart 'On the Road' images At the time best known as The Twilight Saga's conflicted human Bella Swan, Kristen Stewart was cast as the exuberant Marylou in Walter Salles' film adaptation of Jack Kerouac's iconic 1950s novel On the Road. Salles had been impressed with Stewart's pre-Twilight work in Sean Penn's Into the Wild. Based on LuAnne Henderson, Kerouac's close buddy Neal Cassady's first wife, Marylou is described as a "beautiful little sharp chick." Apparently, one who also likes to move seductively to the sound of music – as can be attested by the Kristen Stewart picture above, which first came out online in early 2011. Besides Stewart, On the Road also features Garrett Hedlund – at the time best known for Tron: Legacy – as Dean Moriarty, »

Scarlett Johansson Oscar dress Scarlett Johansson at the Oscars Looking great in a long purple dress, Scarlett Johansson displays her tight-fitting costume and bare back at the 83rd Academy Awards held on Feb. 27 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. Oscar 2011 co-host and Best Actor nominee James Franco (for Danny Boyle's 127 Hours) thus introduced Johansson and fellow Oscar presenter Matthew McConaughey: "I am six degrees of Kevin Bacon away from our next two presenters. Figure it out on the Internet." Well, if you're lucky. Some have remarked that Franco was a more effective Oscar host online, where he tweeted some of the evening's to-dos, than on the stage of the Kodak Theatre. His fellow equally panned Oscarcast host was actress Anne Hathaway. Scarlett Johansson movies Scarlett Johansson has been featured in more than 40 films since her debut at age 10 in Rob Reiner's North, back in 1994. Johansson, in fact, »

Breakfast with Alessandro Nivola by Anne-Katrin Titze

Alessandro Nivola is coming to London with a moustache, to star alongside Bradley Cooper and Patricia Clarkson in The Elephant Man Photo: Anne-Katrin Titze

From Alessandro Nivola, over breakfast, we learn how Nicolas Winding Refn poached an entire family, including Elle Fanning and Christina Hendricks, from Sally Potter's Ginger And Rosa and spun them into The Neon Demon, with Alessandro channeling Anton Walbrook's portrayal of Boris Lermontov in Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger's The Red Shoes wrapped into Tom Ford.

Coco Chanel is the link between Jean Renoir's masterpiece La Règle Du Jeu (The Rules Of The Game) and Anne Fontaine's Coco Before Chanel, in which Alessandro plays Chanel's lover who "borrowed" her for two days. How James Gray, Darren Aronofsky and Matteo Garrone will factor in is yet to be determined. Emily Mortimer and Dolly Wells with Olivia Wilde and Evan Rachel Wood »

Time Machine: Best Picture Nominee Co-Star Timberlake on the Oscars' Red Carpet

1 May 2015 7:34 PM, PDT | Alt Film Guide | See recent Alt Film Guide news »

Justin Timberlake on the Oscars' Red Carpet Justin Timberlake at the Academy Awards The Social Network actor Justin Timberlake arrives at the 83rd Academy Awards, which took place on Sunday, Feb. 27, at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. At the ceremony, Timberlake and Black Swan actress Mila Kunis introduced the nominees – and eventual winners – in the animation categories. Throughout the proceedings, he pretended to be the elusive Banksy, whose Exit Through the Gift Shop was a Best Documentary Feature contender. The joke fell mostly flat, but Timberlake actually elicited some laughs when he imitated three-time Oscar-nominated veteran Kirk Douglas*, who mercilessly stretched the Best Supporting Actress announcement into what seemed like hours. Admittedly, Douglas was funny. (The winner in that particular category turned out to be Melissa Leo for David O. Russell's The Fighter.) As announced by the Justin Timberlake-Mila Kunis duo, the Best Animated Short Film was Shaun Tan »

Olivia Wilde Spills ‘Tron 3′ Secrets

28 April 2015 7:17 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Tron is a 1980’s classic movie. The film, which starred Jeff Bridges, captured the imagination of a generation of film goers. In 2010 came follow-up film Tron: Legacy, and starred Garret Hedlund as Sam Flynn, the son of Jeff Bridges’ character from the first film, Jeff Bridges and Olivia Wilde as warrior algorithm Quorra. Rumours have been circulating for a while that a third film is underway and recently it has seemed like this is much more of a possibility.

Whilst at Tribeca Film Festival Wilde gave an update on the status of the project and revealed that we will see more of her character, though this time in the real world…

“The delay has only ever been story, finding the right story. It hasn’t been anything else. There’s never been a time where we wanted to go and then schedules got in the way. It’s only been like, »

Tron 3 is unleashing Quorra in the real world, says Olivia Wilde

27 April 2015 2:45 PM, PDT | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - Movie News news »

Olivia Wilde has let slip that Tron 3 will flip its format by bringing her character into the real world.

Wilde made a memorable first impression in the franchise in Tron: Legacy as the warrior algorithm Quorra, who was not afraid of kicking a little butt to protect tech prodigy Sam Flynn.

Wilde recently told Collider that she is excited to follow up Quorra leaving the Grid for the real world at the end of Tron: Legacy.

"I love this character of Quorra so much and I've built her with Joe Kosinski and we took her such a long way from what was written to what we made," she said. "I mean, I fought for her to be this kind of androgynous child and that's so not what you typically see in these movies, so I'm so grateful that the producers let me play with her and make her this strange little being. »

James Franco got high. Luke Wilson cried. Ethan Hawke killed innocent people. Suffice to say, things took a turn for the deadly serious in downtown NYC for this year’s Tribeca Film Festival. Good thing these talented and strong actresses were onhand to save the day. Here's Us Weekly movie critic Mara Reinstein's take:  Olivia Wilde: At the outset of Meadowland, she’s the Wilde we’ve come to love: Sunny and caring. Olivia Wilde Talks Meadowland and Tron 3

26 April 2015 9:09 AM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Olivia Wilde has served as executive producer on a number of projects, but Meadowland marks her very first go at producing a feature film. As if that’s not challenging enough, she also stars as Sarah, a mother struggling to cope with the disappearance of her young son. It’s been a year since Jessie vanished during a trip up to Ithaca, but Sarah is still completely consumed by the loss and desperately searching for answers. While in New York City for the world premiere of Meadowland at the Tribeca Film Festival, I got the opportunity to sit down with Wilde to discuss her experience producing and starring in the film. She talked about her determination to champion accomplished cinematographer Reed Morano’s directorial debut, the nine-minute walking shot they did in Times Square, what it was like tapping into a character who’s in the midst of such a devastating situation and more. »

Tribeca Review: New York Comedy is Rarely More Scathing Than Onur Tukel's 'Applesauce'

Read More: Tribeca: Watch Indiewire Talk to Ethan Hawke, Taylor Schilling, Olivia Wilde and More at the Apple Store "This is the reason our culture is in the shitter," says writer-director-star Onur Tukel in his very funny New York comedy "Applesauce," and that may as well be the mantra of the movie. The Turkish-American filmmaker is no stranger to acerbic satire, having most recently poked fun at urban struggles with the outrageous vampire comedy "Summer of Blood." The riotous approach still has teeth in "Applesauce," and while they don't dig quite as deep, Tukel's script about a quartet of self-involved New Yorkers still has plenty of bite. With a trimmer beard and a slightly less offensive demeanor than his bottom-feeder character in "Summer of Blood," Tukel's Ron Welz lives a somewhat more stable life, but that doesn't last long. As the movie begins, the garrulous high school teacher calls into »
