'Sherlock' video: Unnecessary censorship makes everything dirty

Does unnecessary censorship make "Sherlock" better?
No, of course not. Nothing can make "Sherlock" better than the wonderful show it is, but random bleeping of words in a video can be amusing as well. That's exactly what happens in an unnecessary censorship video posted on YouTube by Bleepit.
The censoring of "Sherlock" focuses exclusively on the first episode of Season 1, "A Study in Pink." If you haven't seen that one, you may not want to watch the video. Even with all of the censorship, a lot of the plot is given away.
While not all of the unnecessary censorship works perfectly, there are a few gems:

Watch Bill Murray, Lady Gaga and David Letterman take a selfie on 'The Late Show'

"The Late Show with David Letterman" has two fun stars appearing Wednesday (April 2) in the form of funnyman Bill Murray and pop superstar Lady Gaga. We never really thought we'd see them meet, let alone take a selfie together, but here it is in all its glory.
We also love how Gaga looks like 10 pounds of crazy in a five-pound bag. She's a delight.
Gaga then takes Bill, Dave and the entire "Late Show" audience down the street to the Roseland Ballroom, where she performs a couple numbers, including "G.U.Y," off her latest album, "Artpop."
The singer is actually in the middle of performing a week of shows at the Roseland Ballroom, which will be the historic concert hall's last concert before it closes its doors for good.

'Biggest Loser' winner Rachel Frederickson gains 20 pounds: 'My perfect weight'

After the controversy surrounding her shocking weight loss on "The Biggest Loser" last season, Rachel Frederickson faced a lot of scrutiny over whether she should have been allowed to win by dramatically dropping an unhealthy 155 lbs -- over half of what she weighed at the beginning of the competition.
By the end of the season, the 5'4" Frederickson weighed 105 pounds. She was eating 1600 calories and working out six hours per day. It was unhealthy, and even her trainers didn't seem happy with her state.
But two months after the controversial finale reveal aired, she's gained back 20 lbs, bringing her weight up to 125 pounds. And Frederickson is happy with the gain, calling it "my perfect weight."
Frederickson reveals to Us Weekly that she's more focused on eating healthy than losing weight. "I loosely count calories, but sometimes I might eat an Oreo," Frederickson says. "It's not the end of the world. »

Mike Judge strives for authenticity in HBO's 'Silicon Valley'

Mike Judge's latest TV series, HBO's "Silicon Valley," is garnering major buzz as being one of the next great comedies on the small screen. An insightful Wired article opens a window into why this series is so funny: Judge put authenticity above all else.
"I didn't want that uncomfortable feeling that I was bulls****ing the audience," Judge tells Wired. "When gangsta rap was first coming out, I think it was Suge Knight or J. Prince who said, 'It's gotta work in the street.' It just felt like we had to have street cred."
To do that, Judge returned to his science background. He hired his college roommate, a biophysics PhD, to consult on the show. He hired Jonathan Dotan, a 33-year-old web entrepreneur and investor, to create a believable tech advance for the main characters of the show. Dotan was later made an associate producer. Sebastian Stan likes exploring the Winter Soldier in 'Captain America' sequel

Sebastian Stan is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming film "Captain America: The Winter Soldier." But unlike his character in "Captain America: The First Avenger," Stan plays a very different incarnation of Bucky Barnes in the present day sequel.
Zap2it had a chance to sit down with Stan and talk about returning to the Marvel movies, how he prepared for the role of the Winter Soldier and whether he would like to reprise the role of Bucky in TV shows or standalone movies.

Watch Kristen Bell sing 'Frozen' song 'Do You Want to Build A Snowman' live

The easy breakout hit song from Disney's "Frozen" is Idina Menzel's performance of "Let It Go." However, the other songs in what is now the highest-grossing animated movie of all time cannot be denied.
In particular, "House of Lies" star Kristen Bell's "Do You Want to Build A Snowman" stands out. Her character, Anna, begins the song as a child. She grows through her teenage years and into adulthood be by the time it ends. During a special event showcasing the movie's music in Los Angeles, Bell performed the song live.
With Anna cut off from her elder sister growing up, Bell is able to convey both the humor and emotional toll of the piece flawlessly. At this point, there's been no official announcement of a sequel to "Frozen," but with a box office total north of a billion dollars it's only a matter of time. »

'The Americans' Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys are dating -- report

"The Americans" stars Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys are dating, according to a report from People.com. Although neither actor has confirmed it, sightings of the two around New York indicate that love is indeed in the air.
On the show, Russell and Rhys play Soviet spies living in a fake marriage in suburban Washington, DC. Their Cold War-era romance has its stresses, but the two always seem destined to be together.
And now they are together in real life.
The couple was spotted at The Public Theater in New York on Thursday (March 27) sitting closely together during a performance of "The Library." They reportedly left together. Earlier, they had been seen walking together "very much like a couple" in a Brooklyn park.
Although Rhys denied any relationship when previously asked about it, he didn't seem upset with the rumors and didn't directly deny anything.

'Game of Thrones' Natalie Dormer topless in GQ with Cressida hair

Natalie Dormer hasn't been afraid to bare it all in "Game of Thrones," and she's doing the same in GQ. The 32-year-old actress shows off her body in the new issue of the magazine -- along with her "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay" hair.
Neither the haircut nor her nudity bother Dormer, though. She tells GQ, "I love going out of my comfort zone -- I live to go out of my comfort zone. Obviously, you have quieter years than others -- you don't go jumping out of a plane every day."
So what is this current year? "Phase 'Rock It Out," Dormer tells the magazine. Now she's got "a s***load of attitude." Something tells us she didn't need the hair to have that.

'Daily Show': Watch Jon Stewart skewer CNN's coverage of itself in the 'Circle of News'

Watch Jon Stewart on "The Daily Show" skewer the "Circle of News," where he lambasts the way CNN covers its own coverage of the missing Malaysian Airlines flight.
"The only place they haven't looked for the plane, as far as I can see, is up their own a**holes," says Stewart, before showing a clip of CNN doing a story about Martin Savidge doing a story about the missing plane.
Is it about Savidge helping the search and rescue efforts? Has he maybe been injured in his efforts to help find the plane? No. He's been "sitting in a flight simulator in Canada," and apparently social media has become quite taken with him.

'Jimmy Kimmel Live's' viewer April Fools' pranks are cute and funny

On Monday night's (March 31) episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live," host Jimmy Kimmel gave viewers some April Fools' Day joke suggestions and then said to upload their pranks to YouTube, with the best ones being shown on his show the next night.
Above are the pranks that made the cut. There are some pretty good ones, especially the ones perpetrated against kids because their reactions are priceless. The little girl crying over her frozen cereal is kind of amazing.
Also, we pulled the sink-sprayer prank on our babysittter one April Fools' Day growing up and her reaction was much the same as the woman in the video.

'Colbert Report' Twitter account deleted in wake of 'Cancel Colbert' debacle

In the on-going saga of Stephen Colbert's "racist" tweet, which actually came from a Comedy Central-controlled Twitter account sans context or video of the satirical bit the tweet was referencing, the "Colbert Report" host handled the fallout with aplomb and will no doubt continue with his searing late-night satire unchanged by the uproar.
But one thing that has changed is that the Twitter account that sparked the whole controversy has been deleted. In the above clip, Colbert and Twitter founder Biz Stone discuss the phenomenon that is Twitter -- specifically if it was founded to attack Colbert -- then blow up the @ColbertReport account (which has been shut down). From now on, all show- or Colbert-related tweets will come from @Stephenathome.

2014 Peabody Award winners: 'House of Cards,' 'Scandal' and more

The 2014 Peabody Award winners were announced Wednesday (April 2) on "CBS This Morning," honoring excellence on television, radio and the Internet. The awards, chosen by the University of Georgia Grady School of Journalism, will be handed out May 19 and the ceremony will air on Pivot later that month.

Watch Samuel L. Jackson proclaim 'Boy Meets World' love via slam poem

"The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" hit a brand new, earth-shattering high on Tuesday (April 1). Guest Samuel L. Jackson took the stage, but it wasn't to answer questions or play a game.
Jackson was there to pay tribute to "Boy Meets World," the '90s sitcom that captured everyone's heart. How does one properly show their love for one of the true highlights of Tgif, though? Slam poetry, of course.
Jackson strolled onto the stage with a cigarette and rattled off references to the show, going through the history of main character Corey Matthews. There's even a Feeny call in the middle of the whole thing, which is pretty wonderful.

'Big Brother 15's' GinaMarie Zimmerman has Playboy in her sights

It was probably a hard transition into the real world after living in the "Big Brother 15" house -- at least for the contestants who were caught on camera saying racist, homophobic or misogynistic things. GinaMarie Zimmerman actually lost her job because of it. Luckily she has a backup plan.
Zimmerman tells TMZ that despite the fact that her friends feel she is too old for the men's magazine (Gm was 32 last summer when she did "Big Brother"), she's determined to be in it. So much so that she made some sample photos, one of which is above.
"I'm a huge fan of Playboy and a collector," says Zimmerman. "So I took these pictures on my own to show people you can do anything no matter what age."
Something tells us her age might not have anything to do with not getting asked to pose for Playboy. »

Mindy Kaling: It takes a lot of effort to look like a 'chubby woman'

Mindy Kaling is sick of the backhanded "compliments" she's on the receiving end up for representing a normal body image in Hollywood. During an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" Monday (March 31), the "Mindy Project" star cleared the air.
"People are like, 'It's so nice that Mindy Kaling doesn't feel like she needs to subscribe to the ideals of beauty,'" she jokes, "and I'm like, 'I do subscribe!'"
While many think it might take little to no effort to keep her particular figure, Kaling correct, "I do run and work out. It takes a lot of effort to look like a normal/chubby woman. But the way they talk about it like, 'She's a pioneer because she's glued to her sofa.'"
So for those of you that think Mindy is out there being courageous, showing off her normal body, she has a message: "Aren't surgeons courageous?" she wonders. »

Tig Notaro jokes about breast cancer battle: My boobs tried to kill me

Comedian Tig Notaro knew exactly how to put the audience in stitches during her "Conan" appearance on Monday (March 31). When all else fails, fall back on breast cancer humor.
Notaro was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012 and was very open about the experience on stage in her album "Live," recorded shortly after she found out. Now she's able to look back on the experience and jokingly find a reason it all happened in the first place.
"Before I had a double mastectomy I already was pretty flat-chested," Notaro admits. "I made so many jokes over the years about how small my chest was that I started to think that maybe my boobs overheard me and were just lie, 'You know what? We're sick of this. Let's kill her.'"
Fortunately for Notaro, she survived the ordeal and has thrived in her standup career. She's currently touring the United State, with dates available at her website. »

'Homestar Runner' returns for April Fools' Day with new short

It's the best gift anyone could ask for on April 1, "Homestar Runner" has returned after a more than three-year absence.
The new animated short, which took the internet by complete surprise, appears on the front page of the "Homestar Runner" website. What looks like just any other regular site introduction turns into a salute to the site's best bits, including Strong Bad's emails.
The animated characters don't offer any explanation for the absence but definitely aren't short on the funny. Sadly, there's no information on whether or not to expect more new content from the website. You can dream though, right?
The site first launched in 2000 and gained notoriety due to the world of characters created. Eventually the creators expanded into video games and beyond before abruptly going on hiatus in 2010.

Celebrate Matt Lanter's birthday with pictures of his sexy 'Star-Crossed' alien style

No joke: "Star-Crossed" alien Matt Lanter turns 31 on April 1 (but will forever be 16 on television). In honor of his birthday, Zap2it gathered a collection of photos of the star from his CW drama. Warning: lots of deep V and henley action ahead. You're welcome.
In episode 7 of "Star-Crossed," Lanter's Roman and Aimee Teegarden's Emery finally acted on their long-simmering feelings for one another by making out, like, a bunch of times. It was great. In upcoming episodes, Roman will struggle with whether or not to trust his uncle Castor (Johnathon Schaech) and introducing Emery to his mom, while Teri's (Chelsea Gilligan) feelings for Roman and Grayson's (Grey Damon) feelings for Emery will cause complications.

Glenn Beck sued by Saudi American Boston Marathon victim for defamation

Glenn Beck's claims about a 20-year-old Saudi Arabian "money man" involved in the Boston Marathon bombings have landed him a defamation lawsuit. Abdulrahman Alharbi, a student at the New England School of English, filed a suit against Beck on Friday (March 28) claiming his reputation was "substantially and severely damaged" by Beck's claims.
For some context, Alharbi had been injured during the bombing. He was questioned by police and had his apartment searched, and later was cleared of all potential wrongdoing -- but Beck wasn't convinced.
Following the bombing at the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013, Beck demanded information be released by the United States government about Alharbi, attesting the student was a "proven terrorist" and a "control agent."
"Alharbi has received numerous messages, Internet postings and other communications based on Beck's false statements accusing him of being a murderer, child killer and terrorist," the suit reads.
Neither Beck nor Beck's agent have responded to the lawsuit. »
