Darth Maul fan film gives fans the ‘Star Wars’ prequel they deserve

By the time Revenge of the Sith hit theaters in 2005, most Star Wars fans had all but given up on the franchise. After giving the franchise life decades earlier, it looked like George Lucas was going to tear down the foundation as well. Thankfully, Disney and J.J. Abrams (and $4 billion) decided the story shouldn’t end on a sour note.

The Force Awakens was an incredible return to form, restoring our hope in the Star Wars universe. But Disney can’t erase the prequels, which is why we need more fan projects like Darth Maul: Apprentice.

Upgrade your home audio system with Amazon’s sale on top-rated Sony speakers

Amazon customers can be an unpredictable bunch, especially when it comes to product reviews. There are always people who are way too enthusiastic, and they skew things with a barrage of 5-star ratings. Then you have people on the other end of the spectrum who are filled with rage when they buy something that comes in a slightly different shade of blue than it looked in the pictures, so they slam it with a 1-star review.

People from both camps generally hit the review sections of most products, but consider this: When you have a company with four different speakers that are all consistently rated among the best on Amazon, it’s probably time to check those speakers out. More →

Early details emerge on a possible ‘Suicide Squad’ sequel

It looks like Suicide Squad is already getting a sequel even though we have no idea how well the first movie will do at the box office. Part of the DC Comics universe, the movie focuses on a team of deranged, dangerous super villains who join forces to save Earth. It is due to hit cinemas only in a few months, but a report already says that a part two is planned for the movie.

That’s certainly understandable considering the massive attention Suicide Squad got even before the first trailers came out. We’ve got the Joker, Harley Quinn and Deadshot in this suicidal team of antiheroes, and we’re very excited to see what happens in the upcoming picture. More →

Apple offers a sneak peak of its amazing new campus theater

With Apple set to move into its new spaceship campus in January of 2017, the company today shared some progress updates on its construction efforts with Mashable, alongside some new renderings of the building. Of particular interest is the progress Apple is making on its new “Theatre”, the location where Apple is planning on holding product events in the future. Due to space constraints, Apple today has to resort to renting out third-party buildings, such as the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, when it holds special media events. Once the company’s new campus is complete, all product introductions will take place right in Cupertino.

NYPD counter-terrorism chief: Apple is helping ‘kidnappers, robbers and murderers’

The war of words between Apple and law enforcement authorities over iPhone encryption continues to rage on. Just yesterday, Apple’s senior VP of software engineering, Craig Federighi, penned an op-ed for The Washington Post yesterday where he articulated that Apple is always trying to stay one step ahead of terrorists and cyber criminals.

On the other side of the coin, NYPD counter-terrorism chief John Miller recently had extremely harsh words for Apple. During a radio interview over the weekend, Miller was baffled by Apple’s reluctance to assist the FBI unlock the iPhone 5c used by one of the San Bernardino shooters. Miller went so far as to explicitly say that Apple is choosing to help murderers.

It’s time to ditch Windows (and Mac)

Look, it’s high time we stop beating around the bush. Once upon a time the consumer desktop and laptop computer market was a two-horse town. You could buy a Windows machine, or you could buy a Mac. Sure, Linux was lurking around somewhere also, but for most people it was never really an option. In 2016 though, there is a viable third option and its name is Chrome. Google’s Chrome OS is perfect for browsing the web, emails, streaming media from sites like YouTube and Netflix, and even work. Put it this way: Unless you’re rendering 3D models using some crazy $2,000 software, a Chromebook is probably fine for you

The Chrome computer platform has come a long way in a short period of time, and it’s probably the only operating system you should consider if value is your #1 priority. Here’s a perfect example: For a limited time, you can get a Toshiba CB35-B3340 13.3 Inch Chromebook with a 13.3″ Full HD display, 4GB of RAM, a 2.16GHz Intel Celron processor and a ridiculous 9 hours of battery life for just $270. This week’s total solar eclipse starts on Wednesday, ends on… Tuesday?

How can something start in the future and end in the past? It usually doesn’t. But then, there are some weird exceptions, and we’ll get to witness one later this week. A total solar eclipse is due to start on Wednesday, and it’ll be visible until Tuesday. How is this possible? We’re about to explain.

I desperately want to hate ‘Clash Royale,’ but I can’t stop playing it

By on March 7, 2016 at 4:20 PM.

I’m not sure what I expected when I downloaded Clash Royale last week. Did I think it’d be so bad that I’d have no choice but to delete it? Did I think that Supercell would have completely changed its formula, despite the fact that Clash of Clans is one of the most successful experiments in the history of mobile gaming?

Whatever my expectations were, Clash Royale immediately exceeded them. At least until it forced me to stop playing.

Crazy Video: Man rides the ‘world’s most dangerous skateboard’

YouTube is littered with death-defying stunts and boneheaded experiments, but a recently uploaded video featuring a guy riding the ‘world’s most dangerous skateboard’ arguably sets an entirely new bar for stupidity, or perhaps bravery depending on your perspective.

Straight out of Los Angeles, Christopher Mann over the weekend decided to mod his skateboard into something straight out of medieval times. Along with a few of his friends, Mann hammered and drilled in upwards of 15 long nails into his skateboard. Not only that, he also affixed a buzzsaw to the bottom while also adding a tail devil to the back for a little spark action.

We’re all waiting for HBO to kick off a brand new season of Game of Thrones next month, when we’ll presumably learn what really happened to Jon Snow. But in the meantime, a gifted artist recently showed his devotion to the show by walking no less than 20 miles to create an amazing Game of Thrones image on snow in the French Alps. More →
