What if all the crushes you ever had found out how you felt about them…all at once?

Lara Jean Song keeps her love letters in a hatbox her mother gave her. They aren’t love letters that anyone else wrote for her; these are ones she’s written. One for every boy she’s ever loved - five in all. When she writes, she pours out her heart and soul and says all the things she would never say in real life, because her letters are for her eyes only. Until the day her secret letters are mailed, and suddenly, Lara Jean’s love life goes from imaginary to out of control.

    "loved it!"

I binge read this in 24 hours and have no regrets! While the story was kind of slow early on, Lara Jean's struggle is something many teenage girls go through--crushes, family struggle, the nature of girl cattiness, and learning to live outside your comfort zone. It was nostalgic to read this book because I, too, remember writing letters I'd never send to boys who I had crushes on in high school.

The biggest criticism I have for this book, though, is that I don't think it really had much of a plot. I mean, yes it was a story of her life, but I do not feel like the letters really had that much significance in the actual plot, which is what the story was supposed to be about, right? The book was more about how her letters caused her double epic love triangles and her sisters than the letters themselves. it didnt bother me, though, because it was kind of nice to read a book with a character that cared more about other things than just throwing her life away for a boy she met within 24 hours.

The book made me laugh and smirk to myself many times, as the characters came alive. they all have personalities that could easily be compared to someone I know. I think the Laura Knight Keating did a great job performing this, aiding to creating life to these characters.

I loved this book and am excited to jump into the next book in the duology

I really liked this book. I liked it a lot. I thought it started out a little slow, but once it got going, I couldn't stop listening. But the end....the end!!!!! I can not believe it stopped where and how it did!!! I am just a little disappointed with that part. All in all though, I really enjoyed it, and I would recommend it to friends!

    "Cute!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would to those that LOVE YA Contemporary. But for those of us that like a little more depth and less fluff, I would say skip it.

Would you be willing to try another book from Jenny Han? Why or why not?

This was the first book of hers that I read, but I own a few. This was too fluffy for my taste, so maybe.

Have you listened to any of Laura Knight Keating’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No, but I adored her!

    "A YA for Rom-Com fans"

Jenny Han’s latest book hits just the right notes for summer reading. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is funny, touching, romantic and fast-paced and the perfect contemporary YA choice for your beach bag. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Lara Jean’s story as she navigates her way through love, friendship and family drama.

The scoop on To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is that Lara Jean is the quiet middle child – overshadowed by perfect know-it-all Margot and precocious younger sister Kitty. Lara Jean is kind of the Jan Brady of the group. The three Song girls lost their mother at a young age, and Margot takes on a mothering type role for the family. When Margot leaves for college, she also breaks it off with boy next-door Josh, someone who happens to be a secret letter recipient. Awkward! With Margot now off in Scotland, Lara Jean has to step up and help her dad by taking on some more responsibility. But first she has to deal with the repercussions of her secret letters that are now no longer a secret!

The delivery of the secret letters puts Lara Jean’s life in an uproar. Sweet family friend Josh is obviously confused to receive a love note from his ex-girlfriend’s sister (even though Josh and Lara Jean kinda liked each other first.) Then, popular, handsome, charismatic Peter Kavinsky receives his letter and that changes the game altogether. Perhaps they can help each other make their objects of affection jealous by staging a fake romance? (Lara Jean still has a crush on Josh and Peter is not quite over his ex) Sounds like a perfect scenario right- what could go wrong?!

Lara Jean has to gain confidence and put herself out there for the first time- no more hiding behind secret letters or her sister Margot. She’s a little shy and awkward which makes her more endearing. But going through these new challenges could give her just the confidence boost she needs.

To all The Boys is a love letter to sisters as well as to first crushes. The sisters are so close since losing their mom and honor her by keeping family traditions alive. The girls are half Korean and their dad makes sure to include Korean meals as one of the ways to remember their mom. Lara Jean’s cultural observations were also insightful.

Narrator Laura Knight Keating is a good fit for this audiobook, and brings out the humor in the story. She sounds age appropriate and differentiates all the characters. Her pacing is good and overall I think she did a solid job overall and I’d listen to her again in the sequel. The audiobook is a Whispersync for Kindle title and it’s quite affordable if you own the kindle edition.

Listen to To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before if you like: Contemporary YA, Anna and the French Kiss, The Summer I Turned Pretty series, and romantic comedies.

"cute, contemporary, young adult, romantic & funny!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I am in my 30's but I totally would recommend this book to people who liked YA fiction.

    I love the characters!

I like how the protagonist, Lara Jean, is just a plain, nice girl. Her mom passed away but the author doesnt rehash it over and over. Lara has a bossy older sister who had to become "mom" too soon and a spunky younger sister who goes by kitty. Her whole family loves each other; they're not mean to one another like what you see on a lot of popular tv shows these days.

The guys in Lara Jean's life are also pretty colorful! Peter K and his ex Genevieve were practically "an institution at the institution" of their high school. Did you know, Peter also plays lacrosse? And Lara's sister's ex boyfriend Josh (who also lives next door to Lara Jean) is a super sweet, adorkable guy. He's so easy to root for!

I also found the book comparatively funny to most YA fiction I've recently read. Seems to be a trend of dystopian/doom and gloom so it's nice to read something lighter every now and then!

What was one of the most memorable moments of To All the Boys I've Loved Before?

    The estate sale.

    Kitty, the little sister.

    Lara Jean's inner thoughts.

Lara's 'boyfriend' to Lara Jean: "You hate cussing. You like to bake. You stay at home on Friday nights. Wow, I'm dating my granny. Gross."

Have you listened to any of Laura Knight Keating’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have never listened to LKK's other performances but I REALLY this audiobook. I've maybe listened to 3 or so audiobooks and this one, by far, has been the best listen. I thought it was silly when I heard this book had a "director" but, I mean, maybe it was worth it because I wasnt "blanking out" or having to really concentrate on listening bc I found the performance pretty easy to listen to.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was smiling the whole time during this book. It's so fun.

    Any additional comments?

If you're "scared" of boys and/or tend to dote on guys way out of your league (or celebrities), add this book to your device, NOW!

    "Great Read!"
If you could sum up To All the Boys I've Loved Before in three words, what would they be?

    Innocent, Fun, Endearing

What was one of the most memorable moments of To All the Boys I've Loved Before?

Two words: Hot Tub! Best part.

Which character – as performed by Laura Knight Keating – was your favorite?

    Lara Jean was divine.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I listened to this book in one sitting while I was home sick with the flu. It was so addicting I couldn't turn it off. It made me laugh out and really remember my teen years in a sweet, nostalgic way.

    Any additional comments?

Great read. I pre-order the sequel because I couldn't get enough of the story and of course, it ends with a cliff hanger!
