Profoto has launched the OCF Beauty Dish, a collapsible, lightweight, fabric version of its Softlight Reflector. Unlike the Softlight Reflector, the OCF Beauty Dish can be collapsed and stored in a carrying case when not in use, making it a more attractive option for photographers on the move. Read more

The Panasonic Lumix ZS100 made its debut in early January, offering a sizable 25-250mm equivalent zoom range to complement its 1"-type sensor. With a built-in viewfinder, it certainly looks to be travel-ready. After some more time with the ZS100 and some springtime Seattle sun, we've added a few more samples to the gallery. Read more
The Sony a6300 has some sizable shoes to step into. With a 24MP CMOS APS-C sensor, 8 fps continuous shooting with live view, 425-point on-sensor phase detect AF system and 4K video capture it looks like a solid update to the a6000, at least on paper. We've been shooting with the a6300 for a few days and we've just added several images to our gallery of real-world samples. Read more
To kick off WPPI in Las Vegas, Sony has announced that it's developing a wireless radio flash control system for its range of flashguns. Consisting of the FA-WRC1M radio commander and FA-WRR1 receiver, the system will offer control over 15 flashes in 5 groups up to 30m away. Read more
Sony is unveiling its third in a series of 30x zoom compacts, the Cyber-shot DSC-HX80. It offers a 24-720mm equivalent lens, built-in pop-up EVF like the HX90V, and uses an 18.2MP Exmor R CMOS sensor with Bionz X processor. Read more

He has a keen eye for the subtle influences that details can have on an image as a whole, and on the story that it tells. At the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge the Korean manufacturer did not provide any official information about the makers of the the new devices' camera module. However, now a teardown from Chipworks has confirmed rumors that the S7 captures its images on a Sony IMX260 sensor with 12MP resolution, 1.4um pixel size and dual pixel AF across the entire sensor. Lee Filters has announced a 15 stop neutral density filter, able to convert what would normally be a two-second exposure into one that lasts 17 hours and 4 minutes. The new Super Stopper reduces the amount of light entering the lens to enable especially long shutter speeds in normal daylight conditions. Read more

Panasonic's ZS60 puts a lot of enticing features in a very small package. It's an iteration on a tried-and-true travel zoom formula that combines a 24-720mm equiv. lens, 18MP sensor, 3" touchscreen and a built-in electronic viewfinder. We spent some time outside with the ZS60, even managing to catch a few breaks in the late winter clouds, and have some samples to show for it. Read more

Corephotonics, a provider of computational camera solutions based in Israel has launched a new dual-camera module for smartphones called Hawkeye. Hawkeye combines a standard 13MP camera module with a second 13MP module that uses proprietary folded optics. Read more
Fujifilm Japan has announced that it is to stop production of its FP-100C instant film that enthusiasts use in old Polaroid-type cameras. The film has only been available in the 3.25x4.25in size recently, but it has been keeping vintage cameras clicking since Polaroid stopped production itself. Read more
A Polaroid-branded handheld light wand 'BrightSaber' is now available, packing 289 LED lights into a frosted tubular diffuser. The BrightSaber offers a built-in, secondary tungsten filter. Read more
Eric Wolfinger is a traveling food photographer who spent six years cooking and baking professionally before working behind the lens. His first project, 'Tartine Bread,' was nominated for a James Beard Award and is now in its ninth printing. Twelve books later, he's still going strong. Unlike iOS, Android supports the capture and processing of Raw photos. Chances are that if you own a late model mobile device running either Lollipop or Marshmallow, you should now be able to use the Adobe DNG Raw format, the headline feature in the recently updated Lightroom for Android 2.0. The SD Association has introduced a Video Speed Class rating, designed to identify cards capable of 8K, 4K, 3D and 360° video capture. The speed class, which guarantees minimum sustained performance, comprises five ratings: V6 (6MB/sec), V10 (10MB/sec), V30 (30MB/sec), V60 (60MB/sec) and V90 (90MB/sec). Confused? Read more
Sony's α-series of full-frame and APS-C cameras allow for an incredibly diverse range of lens options. What's been missing is the full range of advanced autofocus options Sony offers on native lenses, but not adapted third-party autofocus lenses. Sigma's new MC-11 adapter changes all that with Sigma's DSLR lenses, and we've got the video evidence to back it up. Learn more
Nikon has announced that the shutter fault in its D750 may be found in cameras from a much wider manufacturing period than initially thought. The company has discovered the issue, in which the shutter occasionally shades part of the image, in cameras made from December 2014 to June 2015. Read more

DJI has updated its flagship drone range with the Phantom 4, which offers automatic obstacle avoidance and 'dramatically' improved camera optics. With a 12MP sensor and F2.8 lens the Phantom 4 is capable of Raw still shooting and 4K/UHD video at 30p as well as new machine vision technology adding subject tracking and object avoidance. Topaz Labs has released DeNoise 6, the latest version of its noise-removal software. This latest installment can be used as a standalone application in addition to functioning as a plugin for host software like Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop; it also adds batch image processing as well as profile presets for dozens of camera models. A brown and chrome version of the OM-D E-M10 II compact system camera, first announced in January, has been launched worldwide by Olympus. The new version is a limited edition, of which only 3500 will be made and distributed. Read more
Tamrac has a new line of Goblin gear pouches designed for lenses and cameras, as well as larger accessory pouches for storing multiple items together. The product line includes half a dozen lens pouches with drawstring enclosures, three body pouches, two accessory pouches and one memory card wallet. Read more
A year of field tests have taken DPR Editor Barney Britton and series director Eric Becker into some challenging shooting environments, so for a change of pace, late last year the pair took the Sony Cyber-shot RX100 IV to the sun-soaked Yucatán peninsula. Read more

Fujifilm didn't announce any new products at CP+ this year, but the show is the first chance that a lot of Japanese enthusiast photographers have had to get their hands on the X-Pro2 and X70, which were unveiled last month. In an effort to get cameras into photographers' hands, Fujifilm is running a rental service at this year's show, where prospective X-series users can hire gear while they're attending the show. Roger and Aaron over at LensRentals have been tearing lenses down again. This week they've 'eviscerated' Fujifilm's XF 55-200mm F3.5-4.8R LM OIS - the company's mid-price tele zoom. The name may be redolent of a '$100 extra for a dual lens kit' zoom but inside they found surprises at every turn. And not just with regards the number of screws holding the thing together. Read more
Once a year, photographers turn their lenses toward Yosemite's Horsetail Fall and hope for the conditions that transform this waterfall into a spectacle known as 'Firefall'. The late February sun casts a blazing orange glow on the water – that is, if the water is flowing, and if the horizon isn't too cloudy. One photographer shares his story capturing the event. Flash manufacturer Nissin offers some compelling alternatives to on-brand flashes, and they've recently updated their lineup with the i60A, Nissin's second, and smaller, flash that integrates with their 2.4GHz radio wireless control system. Attendance is up at this year's CP+ show in Yokohama Japan, and that's partly thanks to new products from some of the biggest camera manufacturers, including Nikon. Macphun has announced a new 3-month payment plan for Aurora HDR Pro, the image editing application for Mac OS X it launched in November. Rather than requiring the full $99 USD price at the time of purchase, the payment plan allows users to pay $33 per month for three months, while still gaining immediate access to the software license. A remote control spinning tripod head that is said to be ideal for shooting panoramas has been launched in the US and UK by Polaroid. The Panorama Eyeball Head fits on a tripod or stands freely on its own feet, and can accommodate DSLRs as well as compacts. The control unit connects with the head via an IR link and manages both the speed and direction of rotation. Read more
There are lots of new products vying for attention at CP+ 2016, including Sony's a6300 and new GM series lenses for its full-frame mirrorless cameras. And they are getting plenty of attention from show attendees, especially those eager to try out the FE 85mm F1.4 GM. We took another look at the a6300 and the GM lenses on display at the buzzing Sony booth in Yokohama. Read more
We've seen established members of the optical industry partner with smartphone makers before – Nokia high-end phones used to come with Carl Zeiss branded lenses, and Schneider Kreuznach optics have been used in various models from Chinese manufacturer Oppo. Now it seems we could soon see Leica-branded lenses and other imaging technology in Huawei smartphones. Read more
As usual at the CP+ show in Yokohama, one of the longest lines can be found at Canon's booth. This year, Canon's EOS 80D and EOS-1D X Mark II were in huge demand from both press and public attendees alike, and we fought our way through the crowd to get hands on with both new models - and the surprisingly nice PowerShot G7 X Mark II. Just before CP+ 2016, we had the chance to get our hands on preproduction models of Sony's three new G Master lenses that sit above the existing G lenses in Sony's lineup. Our hands-on time on the show floor here at CP+ have allowed us to formulate a better opinion and one thing's becoming clear: we think Sony has good reason to make the recent claims they've made regarding the GM series. At this year's CP+ show in Yokohama, Japan, Panasonic unveiled the Lumix G Vario 12-60mm F3.5-5.6 ASPH Power O.I.S. lens. Featuring a splash and dustproof design, the 24-120mm equivalent zoom is designed to be a lightweight, versatile companion to Panasonic's Micro Four Thirds cameras. Tamron is showing off two brand new lenses at CP+ this year - the SP 85mm F1.8 Di VC USD and SP 90mm F2.8 Di VC USD 1:1 Macro. The 'SP' in the model names stands for 'Super Performance' - a designation that Tamron reserves for its high-end optics. We headed to the Tamron booth today and got our hands on the new lenses, and Tamron's upcoming TAP-in Console. Read more

The Case Relay Camera Power System from Tether Tools offers 'infinite camera power' for a wide range of DSLR and mirrorless cameras. The system works via a DC coupler that plugs into both the camera’s battery port and the Case Relay. The Relay plugs into either a 5V USB external battery or a wall outlet. Read more

Sigma announced several products at CP+ 2016, including two new cameras. The interchangeable lens SD Quattro And SD Quattro H represent a departure for the company in two senses - both are mirrorless cameras, and the 'H' features an APS-H format sensor. More conventional are a 50-100mm F1.8 DC HSM Art zoom and 30mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary prime for mirrorless cameras. Read more

The Leica SL 24-90mm F2.8-4 may not break any new technical ground, but when the SL's 'kit' lens made its way to LensRentals headquarters, the team endeavored to take a careful look inside. With the solidly constructed lens partially disassembled, they got a closer look at its impressive number of moving elements. Read more
DPReview is at the CP+ 2016 show in Yokohama, Japan, where Nikon announced three new compact cameras.
