What’s Next for Lana Condor: Maybe More ‘X-Men’ and Jubilee?
Now that she’s done with Lara Jean Covey and all those boys, Lana Condor wants to kick some ass — and she’s hoping to toss on the yellow jacket and jump back into the “X-Men” universe as Jubilee.

Condor played Jubilee, a.k.a. Jubilation Lee, in the 2016 Fox film “X-Men: Apocalypse.” Fans were hyped that the Chinese-American character would get a chance to shine on the big screen, but her appearance amounted to not much more than a glorified cameo.

Despite Disney-owned Fox now reevaluating the direction of the “X-Men” franchise post “Dark Phoenix,” Condor is holding out hope.

Negasonic Teenage Warhead Unlikely To Return For Deadpool 3

Last week, Ryan Reynolds confirmed that Deadpool 3 is in the works over at Marvel Studios. As you no doubt know, this will be the first leading project for the Merc with the Mouth to be produced by the Mouse House following their merger with 20th Century Fox. Unlike what’s expected to happen with the X-Men reboot, though, Disney will continue what Fox started by bringing back Reynolds as Wade Wilson. However, it’s unclear which supporting characters will also make the jump.

According to sources close to Wgtc though – the same ones who told us Deadpool 3 was in development months ago, before Reynolds confirmed it last week – Marvel mostly wants DP3 to be a fresh start for the franchise, so despite Ryan’s involvement, much of the supporting cast of the previous movies likely won’t be back.

For one, Weasel is definitely out. While originally we

Playing With Fire review – firefighters v kids comedy fails to ignite

In this ropey family movie, a crew of burly ‘smoke jumpers’ are terrorised by three children they rescue from a burning building

Ex-wwe wrestler John Cena stars in this pretty ropey piece of mainstream nontertainment, about Jake “Supe” Carson, lovable but uptight, who runs a crew of dedicated firefighters in California called “smoke jumpers” who ’copter into remote terrain to tackle any blaze. His goofy comrades are Mark (Keegan-Michel Key), Rodrigo (John Leguizimo) and Axe (Tyler Mane).

Things go sideways when Supe and the gang rescue a bunch of unattended kids from a burning house: mouthy teen Brynn (Brianna Hildebrand), kid brother Will (Christian Convery) and baby sister Zoey (Finley Rose Slater). Then he and his bros have to look after them back at their man-cave fire station until their parents arrive. The kids sweetly cause anarchy, letting off hoses etc, and clueless bachelor Supe figures they need some maternal authority,

Playing With Fire Review

  • HeyUGuys
I’m sorry to do this to you all, but Playing With Fire never quite catches light. A family-friendly studio comedy with its heart in the right place, it nevertheless lacks enough of a comedic punch to trouble the ‘anything but Star Wars’ festive film market.

Jake Carson (John Cena) is the straight-laced Superintendent of the local ‘Smoke Jumper’ unit; a ragtag bunch of firefighters who jump headfirst into danger. Carson is eyeing a promotion to his dream job, but this best laid plans are thrown off with the arrival of Brynn (Brianna Hildebrand), Will (Christian Convery) and Zoey (Finlay Rose Slater), who are rescued following a fire at their country lodge. While the jumpers await the arrival of the kids’ parents, they are forced to contain something even more volatile than fire; children.

Cena does a good job of embodying the prim and proper Carson, but he is surrounded

Ford V Ferrari Wins the Weekend Box Office with $31 Million

  • MovieWeb
Ford V Ferrari easily won this weekend's box office with a $31 million debut. Elizabeth Banks' Charlie's Angels reboot ended up bombing in its premiere weekend with only $8.6 million. James Mangold's latest movie, which stars Christian Bale and Matt Damon, earned a rare A+ rating from CinemaScore and is a much-needed hit for Fox and its new bosses at Disney. Ford v Ferrari has some pretty big Oscars aspirations and it's beginning to look like it could take home some awards early next year.

Midway celebrated its second weekend in theaters by taking the second position after earning $8.7 million. The historical war drama is based on the attack at Pearl Harbor and the subsequent Battle of Midway during World War II. Elizabeth Banks' Charlie's Angels opened at number three after only bringing in $8.6 million. The reboot was expected to do better than it did, but was not able to capture

Playing With Fire (2019) – Review

Need to drop off the kids at the multiplex while you take care of some pre-Thanksgiving “prep”? Or Christmas shopping. Well, it’s still a few weeks until Frozen 2, that Addams clan is going the way of the bags of “fun-size” candies and cardboard witches, and those Artic Dogs are racing across the tundra toward home video (seems to be setting records….all the “worst-ever’ ones). How about a nice PG-rated “family-friendly” slapstick comedy? Most kids love those firefighters and their big trucks (in grade school we’d rush to window upon the siren’s wail), and those big larger than life wrestlers. Mix ’em all up with a lovable sloppy dog and three rowdy, mischievous kids and you’ve got the “kiddie matinee fodder’ entitled Playing With Fire. But with that name, is there still a big chance that you’ll get burned?

At the start of the story,

‘Playing With Fire’ Film Review: John Cena Family Firefighter Comedy Fizzles Out

‘Playing With Fire’ Film Review: John Cena Family Firefighter Comedy Fizzles Out
When I think about some of the family films that peppered my childhood, there are many that still make the cut for decent, fun entertainment. Unfortunately for my daughter and nephews, “Playing with Fire” won’t be one of those fond movie memories they will want to share with their own kids someday.

The film is bland and predictable, underestimates kids’ abilities to understand story and humor, and relies way too much on sight gags that are clichéd and overdone.

Fire Station Superintendent Jake Carson (John Cena), “Supe” to his crew, loves his job. As a smoke jumper, he leads Mark (Keegan Michael-Key), Rodrigo (John Leguizamo) and Axe as they parachute into wildfires, saving lives and homes throughout a more woodsy area of California. When Supe airlifts Brynn, Will and Zoey (Finley Rose Slater) from a blazing cabin fire, the incoming weather and inability to hand them off to a

Film Review: ‘Playing with Fire’

  • Variety
The plot of every sitcom is the same. There’s an inciting incident and a weekly story arc, but the real plot is this: A collection of characters, whether they’re related or not, act out the notion that they’re a “family” (they snipe at each other because they love each other), and by tuning in we become part of that family; that’s why even the most acerbic sitcom makes us feel good. The sitcom started off as a form for adults, but like rock ‘n’ roll and designer fashion-plate coolness it’s now regularly targeted to 8-year-olds. Kiddie sitcoms are ubiquitous on the Disney Channel and Nickelodeon, and “Playing with Fire,” the new family comedy starring John Cena as a fearless but emotionally tight-ass smokejumper, is a barely glorified sitcom made in the overlit and benignly smart-mouth Nickelodeon house style.

The film opens with Cena, as Jake Carson,

As Wildfires Burn, Paramount Preempts ‘Playing With Fire’ PR Disaster With Charitable Outreach

  • Indiewire
With 10 wildfires currently burning throughout California, residents have become all too familiar with the concept of containment — a measurement that refers to the perimeter firefighters create around a blaze to prevent its spread. Marketing materials for Paramount’s November 8 firehouse comedy “Playing With Fire” starring John Cena uses the tagline “0% Contained.” Not exactly the association you want for a Nickelodeon-produced family movie.

However, Paramount appears acutely aware of the optics. With a plan for charitable donations and other outreach to real-life firefighters, the studio has gotten ahead of any critical commentary on the matter, most of which has long been planned, a representative said.

Cena plays a straight-laced fire superintendent who heads an elite team of smokejumpers who parachute into blazes. Keegan-Michael Key, John Leguizamo, and Tyler Mane are part of the team who rescue three children in the path of a wildfire. They unwittingly become babysitters to the

Christian Convery and Luke Roessler, who portray Squeaky and Squirmy, respectively, don't just look alike - they also both boast pretty impressive acting résumés. So if you're wondering why they look so familiar, it's probably because Descendants 3 wasn't the first time you saw either of them on screen.
