I would have voted for the zeiss Loxia 50mm F:2 Planar in sony FE mount. It wasnt on the list, but it should be, I own it; shoot it and I have never been happier, Don@eastwestphoto

I was surprised not to see any 150-600 lenses. Either the Tamron or the Sigma. Tamron was first; Sigma arguably better optically with more features at nearly twice the weight and twice the cost. In any event effectively a new class of lens that is changing enthusiast telephoto photography.

The Sigma 50mm and 35mm (only the 50mm) in the poll are also game changing. They handily best their Nikon and Canon equivalents at a relatively reasonable (but still fairly high) cost. They are revitalizing mainstream prime lens photography. The 18-35 is an APS-C lens that shares the optical quality. Maybe it isn't prime per se but the high optical quality that is game changing.

I've got to throw one more comment, and essentially my vote, down here in comments. My vote in the poll above would have been for the Tamron 150-600mm, so it's exclusion from the poll forces me to cast vote in comments, in agreement with the many comments so far that seem to agree. Though it was announced in late 2013, it didn't get released in Canon mount in virtually all world markets until Jan 2014, and Nikon & Sony mounts deep into 2014. Though some comment that it may be a niche lens, being for long-lens enthusiasts, honestly several of the lenses included above are just as niche - having a super telephoto lens with a variable zoom range, hand-holdable, reaching to 600mm, and at $1000, is simply a game-changer and quite a remarkable achievement, especially considering just how good it is. It would have been an accomplishment even if it was just OK at 600mm...and it's more than that.

As far as I am concerned, the Tamron 150-600mm is the best lens I've bought in years. That doesn't mean that it is the lens that I use the most (for that I use my Nikon 28-300mm), but when I need it, nothing else remotely comes close. It performs unbelievably in terms of sharpness and brightness, focus speed, zoom range, VR that enables crazy low shutter speeds hand-held, and affordable price for a full frame lens. It absolutely should have been included in this poll. As someone else said in response to the comment about it being a niche lens, no one is forced to vote for it but given its stellar performance we should have had the opportunity to vote for it if we wanted to. Its omission casts serious doubt about the validity of this artificially biased poll...

Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM miles ahead of nikon one, isn't it? Less distortion, better corner sharpness? Nikon 16-35 is almost a fish-eye when used 16-20 range

I agree with the most part of the other users, the Tamzooka 150-600 is a game changer, it opened a brand new world for many of us that could not have even dreamed of doing wildlife photography before.
Should be in the list.

Looks like they've reset the poll with the addition of the FE16-35/4. But where's the Otus 85? Where's the Tamron 150-600? Where's the FE55/1.8? They need to only include lenses people can actually shoot with, rather than base it on calendar announced date.

I have tested Sigma 150-600 mm ART - it is to heavy to handheld.
I am not a Tamron fan.

A lot of folks don't seem to grasp the meaning of the title.

I'm sure everyone has a favorite all time lens but this article is about lenses released in 2014.

This list is a disaster and DP should rerun it. Heaven knows how they came up with this parade, presumably after a very long lunch. Perhaps they can be explicit about how they (a) came up with the list selection and (b) how they missed such stars as the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM "A". I have no axe to grind, I'm a micro 4/3 user. Transparency must be made complete here. A failure to open up the selection criteria to scrutiny leaves DPReview with a lack of credibility.

Like others have said, the Tamron 150-600 should be on this list. It is an incredible value and has opened the doors to many enthusiasts to have an affordable, lightweight 600mm that is sharp enough for the vast majority of users. It really is a "game changer"

The Tamron 150-600 deserves to be on this list. The guys at The Camera Store put it in their top three for 2014, and here it's not even an option for the top 13? Seems like a curious omission.

I think whoever was coding these pages needs a beating as well. No tablet support - and apparently FF and IE don't work on PC either. Hmmm. Or is this apple only voting?

Yes - at least the way we code it at work is you grab those little lines on the right and drag. I don't feel inclined to start opening other browsers or my test PC's.
