Washington State has a long-standing commitment to open government, including open access to non-confidential data from state agencies. The following communities of practice offer significant data resources for search or download in a structured, machine-readable format:
Data.wa.gov
...is the state's general purpose open data portal where you will find fish counts, water quality, population, demographics, and more. Any state agency program can open a free account and publish data on this site.
Geography.wa.gov
...is the state’s geospatial portal. Here you will find access to a wide variety of information such as historic barns, state roads, and standards-compliant metadata. Multiple agencies maintain the data and maps linked from this portal.
Fiscal.wa.gov
...offers citizens and analysts' data and insights into state spending, and staffing including construction projects, state employee salaries, budgets, and open check book. The site is created and maintained by LEAP, the legislature's accountability and transparency experts.
Business.wa.gov (Washington BusinessHub)
is a new kind of search-driven business information site, providing step-by-step tools for business owners, from start-up to expansion. You will find resources to agencies for every aspect of business ownership, including taxes and licensing.
Data.results.wa.gov
...is a data-driven display of goals, performance, and results assessment from the Governor's office.
Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT)
...is the steward of a multimodal transportation system and responsible for ensuring that people and goods move safely and efficiently. Traveler information is also available by downloading the WSDOT app. This site is widely used by other agencies such as the Traffic Safety Commission, County Road Advisory Board, etc.
Employment Security Department (ESD)
...whose mission is to connect employers and job seekers, contains data and analysis of Washington state's employment conditions, economy, job market and work force.
Education Research and Data (ERDC)
...promotes the analyses of early learning, K-12, and higher education programs and education and workforce issues across the preschool-to-career (P-20W) system.
