Product Description

A sewerage worker's dead body is found inside a manhole in Mumbai. An ageing folk singer is tried in court on charges of abetment of suicide. He is accused of performing an inflammatory song which might have incited the worker to commit the act. As the trial unfolds, the personal lives of the lawyers and the judge involved in the case are observed outside the court.

Fantastic. Don't be put off by it being in Marathi. The movie is multi lingual. Half is in English, one-fourth in Hindi and only one fourth in Marathi and Gujarati.

This is not a typical movie with a regular 'story' or melodrama. I can, however, say from first-hand experience that its portrayal of the Indian legal system is amazingly accurate. No wonder this is our official entry to the Oscars.

The language is a mix of Marathi, Gujarati, Hindi, and English. You will have no problem understanding it with the subtitles turned on.

Path-breaking Marathi Cinema. Insanely realistic yet different. Watch it with patience,especially at the end. Chaitanya Tamhane takes you on a journey of Indian Judicial system. Very balanced taking. Lifelike photography. DVD also contains special features.Court is a must watch.

Was disappointed to miss this movie when it hit cinemas, but the DVD more than makes up. Witty, humorous, and above all, a HIGHLY realistic depiction of the Indian legal system. Also, the extra scenes included in the DVD provide a fascinating behind the scenes look at the making of the movie
