Countdown to Batman v Superman – World’s Finest: The Batman/Superman Movie

Ricky Church continues his countdown to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice with World’s Finest: The Batman/Superman Movie…

Throughout the countdown to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, I’ve recommended several graphic novels to read such as The Dark Knight Returns, Public Enemies and Kingdom Come. This entry, I’m going to switch it up by recommending a viewing of The New Batman Adventures and Superman: The Animated Series crossover, ‘World’s Finest’. This three-part story, also stitched together as The Batman/Superman Movie, is notable for being the first step towards a shared DC Animated Universe, a collection of several animated series that all tied into each other from 1992 – 2006.

When The Joker discovers a large piece of kryptonite in Gotham City, he travels to Metropolis to strike a deal with Lex Luthor: he’ll kill Superman for one million dollars. Batman follows the clown to Metropolis »

Why a Batman v Superman R-rated cut is a good thing

Anghus Houvouras on why a Batman v Superman ‘R’ rated cut is a good thing…

The ‘R’ rating has been a big topic of conversation ever since Deadpool body-slammed box office records and enthralled audiences around the globe. Suddenly the concept of violence and language in a comic book movie impacting the potential audience and box office didn’t seem so daunting. For years we’ve been under the working conclusion that comic book movies have to be PG-13 because of the potential for alienating younger viewers.

The impact of Deadpool cannot be quantified. Not yet. It’s one movie that at this point is a singular phenomenon. But don’t expect studios to act rationally or exhibit patience. The ‘R’ rating is back on the table for comic book adaptations. The stigma is gone or at least severely diminished.

When Warner Bros. announced last month that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice »

First image from Seth Rogen’s R-rated 3D animated comedy Sausage Party revealed

Typically, 3D animated films, which include such recent offerings from Pixar and DreamWorks as The Good Dinosaur and Kung Fu Panda 3, are aimed at younger audiences, and while parents can certainly get as much enjoyment from such films as their children, more often than not, they spend close to two hours begrudgingly watching a film that wasn’t made with them in mind.

As a change of pace, this summer, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are bringing Sausage Party, a 3D animated film of their own, to theaters, but instead of its target demographic being children, the raunchy R-rated film is strictly aimed toward adults. The first image from this star-studded animation has been released by Sony Pictures (via Collider) and can be seen below…

WWE Brand Split Update

Our top story today is an update on one we reported last week: the backstage talk over a possible return of the WWE brand split.

A brief recap of that: Shane McMahon shockingly returned to the WWE last week, and within minutes managed to get himself involved in a Hell in a Cell match against the Undertaker at Wrestlemania 32 for control of Monday Night Raw. Things got out of fast. I mean, things really escalated quickly.

That, combined with a WWE live event being accidentally advertised as ‘WWE vs Raw’ led many to believe the brand split could be returning.
