The Buzz: Director Alex Proyas and his cast of mostly white Egyptians represent Lionsgate's first attempt at establishing a post-Hunger Games franchise, but despite Proyas's legion of fans and the sexy thoughts of Nikolaj Coster-Waldau squaring off against Gerard Butler, there's a chance this epic set-up might be a non-starter at the box office. People still go to the movies over Oscar weekend, so that shouldn't be a factor here; it could be more about negative associations about the aforementioned casting issues as well as a concepts (mortals vs. gods) that feels a bit out of fashion.

Certificate PG-13   -   Biography | Comedy | Drama | History | Sport

Metascore: 53/100 (8 reviews)
The story of Eddie Edwards, the notoriously tenacious British underdog ski jumper who charmed the world at the 1988 Winter Olympics.

The Buzz: The thought of the new Kingsman teaming up with The Wolverine for a feel-good story based on underdog sports legend Eddie Edwards is the kind of movie that just might become a sleeper hit at worst, especially if families and older audiences embrace it. Plus, Cool Runnings now has a companion movie.

Certificate R   -   Crime | Thriller

Metascore: 57/100 (9 reviews)
A gang of criminals and corrupt cops plan the murder of a police officer in order to pull off their biggest heist yet across town.

The Buzz: We've seen crime/thrillers with spectacular casts tank commercially and critically before, and thus far the critical response to John Hillcoat's Lawless follow-up has been rather harsh -- more than one reviewer has called the story idiotic. Let's not forget how tricky it is to motivate this target audience (young males) away from their video-game consoles as well.

Certificate PG-13   -   Action | Adventure | Drama | Fantasy

A story of lost love, young love, a legendary sword and one last opportunity at redemption.

The Buzz: As Netflix looks to redefine the idea of theatrical distribution, it's too bad their initial films will become box-office casualties. Beasts of No Nation caused theater-chain panic and it was blocked from a wide release, though it earned strong reviews and fared well as an experiment. Still, though, it's a sign of the viewing times since there's no way Sword of Destiny will become a cultural happening like its predecessor. Isn't that a bummer? Do you really want to watch this movie on a laptop or see it for the first time at home?

  -   Comedy

A Bollywood director is hired by an American talent agent to make a film on Osama bin Laden. The plan to use an Osama doppelganger in order to prove his death boomerangs when a Taliban arms dealer hijacks their idea to prove he's alive.

The Buzz: This spoof on Osama bin Laden is a sequel to a 2010 movie that was released pretty much everywhere except the United States. The sequel's premise ups the ante controversy-wise and earns a truly worldwide release, with Ali Zafar, who starred in the original, returning for a special appearance.

  -   Documentary | Adventure | Biography | History

When Apollo astronaut Gene Cernan stepped off the moon in December 1972 he left his footprints and his daughter's initials in the lunar dust. Only now is he ready to share his epic but deeply personal story of fulfillment, love, and loss.

The Buzz: We think the recent news story about Apollo 10 astronauts who heard music while on the 'dark side' of the moon means there's an opportunity to re-score Mark Craig's documentary on the Apollo 17.
