(United States Federal Circuit) - In an appeal of an inter partes reexamination of a patent related to computer system memory modules, in which the examiner first rejected certain claims and then withdrew them after Netlist amended its claims by narrowing them, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board decision affirming the examiner's final decision is affirmed where the Board's determination that the negative claim limitation met the requirements of 35 U.S. C. section 112, paragraph 1 (2006) is supported by substantial evidence.

(United States Federal Circuit) - In an appeal by a veteran-plaintiff contesting the VA's reduction of disability compensation benefits after he was incarcerated as a result of a felony conviction, the Veterans Court decision upholding the Board of Veterans' Appeals determination is affirmed where, under 38 U.S.C. section 5313(a)(1), the VA should use the date on which plaintiff pleaded guilty and was convicted when calculating the date on which to reduce his benefits.
