Tony Soprano, Lisa Simpson, and Clair Huxtable are some of the IMDb staff's favorite TV characters from the last 25 years. Read on to see who else made the list.
IMDb turned 25 on October 17! Over the years, we asked several celebrities about the first movie they ever saw in a theater. Watch our interviews with Jonah Hill, Lenny Kravitz, Woody Harrelson, Scarlett Johansson, and more.
"My all-time favourite director is Alfred Hitchcock, and as well as leaving us with 53 feature films (including my all-time favourite film and many other classics), Hitchcock holds the record for the shortest ever Oscar acceptance speech. While accepting the Irving Thalberg Memorial Award at the Oscar ceremony in 1968, he simply said two words: 'Thank you.' Though Hitchcock's appreciation may have been tinged with some irony, mine is not. This is a whole-hearted, grateful 'thank you' that comes on the occasion of IMDb's 25th anniversary. 'Thank you' is mostly what I want to say here on behalf of the whole IMDb team to you, our 250 million monthly worldwide customers."
If there's one thing IMDb staffers have in common, it's a deep passion for movies and television. We asked everyone on the team to share their Top 25 lists of movies, TV series, actors, actresses, and more! Here are some of our favorite lists for your enjoyment.
"I had so much fun putting this list together! From dramas like Gravity and Doubt to comedies like Pretty Woman and B.A.P.S., it's amazing how many stories these talented women have told through their craft."
"I have forced myself to pick only one film per director, and my highly subjective list skews more towards personal favorites (and a couple of not-too-guilty pleasures) rather than the 'best' or 'most representative' film from each filmmaker."
"I was 8-years-old in 1990, so this list represents pretty much my entire TV-viewing life. Looking back through my picks, there are two main themes: British comedy and American drama."
