I suppose it would have cost an extra $500 if nikon had added two more aperture blades.....???! What an idiotic, stingy decision on their part for a lens in this price range.

Seems like the 16-35mm FE f/4 will do just fine. You can crop as much as you like to get even 50mm equivalent shots, ie. using APS-C crop mode.
