Looking ahead to 2016, as Director-General, my four priorities for the year ahead include a long- term prosperity agenda; raising productivity; successful devolution and contributing to an informed debate on the UK’s membership of the European Union.
With CBI forecasts predicting that the UK will fall over £300 billion short of its 2020 exports target, action is needed to ‘move the dial’ on exports and the North East can lead the way.
The CBI has long been championing the role of the medium sized organisation and the contribution they make to the UK economy as a whole creating jobs and economic growth, and those in the north east punch above their weight generating 28% of GVA in the region, Sarah Glendenning writes.
