Macro - Colours!

Just so every one is on the same page, this is gleaned fro the Wikipedia site:

Macro photography, is extreme close-up photography, usually of very small subjects, in which the size of the subject in the photograph is greater than life. By some definitions, a macro photograph is one in which the size of the subject on the negative or image sensor is life size or greater. However, in other uses it refers to a finished photograph of a subject at greater than life size. The ratio of the subject size on the film plane (or sensor plane) to the actual subject size is known as the reproduction ratio. Likewise, a macro lens is classically a lens capable of reproduction ratios of at least 1:1, although it often refers to any lens with a large reproduction ratio, despite rarely exceeding 1:1. In the digital age, a "true" macro photograph can be more practically defined as a photograph with a vertical subject height of 24 mm or less.

I guess people have to understand what is and isn't macro. There were some very good photos but unfortunately they were not macro, not even close. In another challenge Micheal did post a definition and he gave some examples of macro. IMO there is actually a difference when it comes to "close focussing" and macro. In the truest sense macro or micro is when a photo is 1:1 or better. Hell even my coloured pencils would be disqualified, yes I took it with a 105/2.8 macro but it isn't 1:1 or better If those rules were adhered to, by my count at least 57 of the 69 photos would be disqualified and there could be more.

I mean no disrespect to any one who may have entered, but my voting will be reflected as to what is and isn't macro

Sorry, but the host is posing an incredible burden. He has - by self-definition - no clue what "Macro" means, admits there is a greatly differing definition of the term, yet insists on using it in the Theme's title.
I suggest that if he does not know how to define something - it is left off.
