Studiocanal Taps Campos, Wolfe, Ramps Up

Move comes as Euro film-TV group drives into premium TV drama production-sales

Underscoring expansion in TV sales, a key growth area for Studiocanal, the European film-TV group has tapped Beatriz Campos as vice president of sales and Elise Woolfe as sales manager. Both will join the London office of the Euro studio’s TV business unit.

The appointment comes as Studiocanal continues to fire up its roster of TV company acquisitions and production company joint ventures, as well as third-party distribution acquisitions, bidding fare to establish its status as one of Europe’0s key go-to companies for high-end TV drama, as it consolidates as the signature show source of broadcasters in free and pay TV worldwide.

“Beatriz and Elise are the perfect fit in context of the overall strategy of Studiocanal’s global sales staff,” said Rodolphe Buet, Studiocanal president, international marketing and distribution for films, library and TV series.

“The steady growth of our television business unit has enabled the expansion of the international sales team, reflecting the strong increase of Studiocanal’s premium TV content.”

“Their backgrounds, knowledge and expertise of the international television market are an asset as sales representatives for Studiocanal’s high quality drama worldwide,” added Katrina Neylon, exec v.p., sales amd marketing.

Now heading sales to Scandinavia and Southern Europe, Campos worked previously as sales director, Middle East, Israel and Africa at Endemol Shine Intl. In charge of direct sales covering major Central and Eastern Europe territories along with Israel and Benelux, Woolfe worked at All3Media International.

Former FremantleMedia exec Sarah Mottershead has been appointed senior sales co-ordinator. Mirela Nastase, sales manager for Latin America, has relocated from the company’s Munich office to London.

Talking to Variety at the Berlin Festival, Studicanal chairman-CEO Didier Lupfer identified production partnerships, as well as the production of European franchises, as key growth strategies at Studiocanal.

In TV, headed by Romain Bessi, Studiocanal already owns part or all of TV companies in Germany (Tandem Productions, “Spotless,” “Crossing Borders”), U.K. (RED Company Production, “Five,” “Happy Valley”) and Scandinavia (screenwriter hub SAM Prods., teaming with “Borgen” – Adam Price – and “The Killing” – Soren Svelstrup – co-creators, as well as “Royal Affair” producer Meta Louise Foldager).

Also in the U.K., and in one of its most recent moves, last October Studiocanal launched Guilty Party with RED Production Company producer Spencer Millman and actors-writers Simon Bird and Jonny Sweet.

Launching its TV sales division under Katrina Neylon in March 2015, Studiocanal has also begun to sell internationally Canal Plus original programming, such as “Spotless” (pictured) and “Section Zero,” tappjng into the extensive high-end drama lineup of one of Europe’s two biggest premium pay TV operators.
