Think carefully before you answer...
Obviously, Panasonic does not advertise the GX7 as having DFD, even though it would be a great selling feature for the camera. However, maybe they weren't ready to announce it when the GX7 debuted, about seven months ahead of the GH4. An early appearance on the GX7 may have also taken away from GH4's thunder.
I have this suspicion that Panasonic uses the GX cameras as "eXperimental" platforms. That is, the latest and greatest features may show up on the GX cameras as sort of a beta test (although with most of the bugs already worked out). Once tried and true, they are offered on more serious equipment such as the GH series (or, for the hotly-contested bridge superzooms, the top-of-the-line FZ cameras).
The GX7 brought us IBIS, swivel high-resolution (albeit sequential) EVF, great low-light focusing capability, the top m43 sensor, and likely a number of other features we now take somewhat for granted. Its autofocus is blindingly fast, so who's to say that it DOESN'T have DFD, or at least an early version of it?
Thoughts?
