Hiking and Biking
HIking and biking opportunities are available at state parks across South Dakota. Both are a great way for the whole family to get out, get some fresh air, and get some exercise. Go for a stroll around a campground, or take advantage of the trails that pass through forested areas, open prairies and close to wildlife.
George S. Mickelson Trail
The scenic George S. Mickelson Trail stretches over one hundred miles through the Black Hills. The gentle slopes and easy access of the converted railroad track allow people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the beauty of the Black HIlls.
Bike the entire length of the trail during the 3-day Mickelson Trail Trek held annually in September.
