LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES
- Activities you can try: Fun ways to learn about and experience the outdoors this season and throughout the year.
- State Parks: Contact your local park to inquire about free entrance for group educational purposes and request nature programs for your group.
- The Outdoor Campus: Visit one of our outdoor skills and nature centers.
- Critter Crates: Borrow a themed nature crate or other resources for educational programs and activities.
- Loaner backpacks: Families can check out backpacks with a variety of outdoor exploration items. Available through the Rawlins Library in Pierre.
- Camps: Join individuals who share your interests at beginning camps like Becoming an Outdoors Woman, Becoming an Outdoor Family, Junior Naturalist and Youth Conservation Camp.
- For teachers: Learn how to build on a child's sense of wonder about nature at programs like Project Wild and Growing Up Wild.
- Small Grant Program: Small monetary grants for those seeking to develop opportunities and resources to encourage outdoor exploration and discovery. Eligible applicants and applications for the upcoming grant installment will be available this fall.

Kids of all ages need to be outside enjoying and being a part of the natural world that surrounds us. Safe, unstructured experiences are also effective ways for kids to explore and learn about the outdoors.
