independent review of big game management
Back in the spring of 2013, all interested citizens were invited to attend a series of comment sessions on the management of deer, elk, antelope and mountain lions in South Dakota.
The Wildlife Management Institute (WMI), an independent contractor selected by Gov. Dennis Daugaard, conducted the meetings to gather insight and information for its review of the Department of Game, Fish and Parks’ (GFP) big-game management. The review identified strengths and weaknesses of current management systems and provided recommendations to improve those systems.
The big-game management review was completed in the fall of 2013.
