Notice to Exporters 2015/31: SPIRE Replacement Workshop

The Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS) is leading a project to create a cross-government digital platform for import and export licensing. This is intended to replace the current SPIRE system.

There has already been a high degree of participation from industry, but we would like to present our initial findings as to what the platform could look like, and how your user experience can be improved. It is important to us to get a range of views from individuals, small, medium and large companies as well as trade associations and others that use our licensing service.

Accordingly, we would like to invite you to attend a workshop to listen to your feedback and create a service that can greater benefit industry:

Date: Wednesday 13 January 2016

Time: 9.30am arrive for 10am start, Q&A at 11am, event closes at 11.30am

Location: ADS, Salamanca Square, 9 Albert Embankment, London SE1 7SP

July 2, 2015: Notice to Exporters 2015/19

Starting Wednesday, July 8th, exporters in the UK applying for a SIEL (Standard Individual Export Licenses) or a SITCL (Standard Individual Trade Control License) using the SPIRE online system will need to provide additional information. Currently, they have to specify if the person or entity receiving the goods is a consignee or an end user. Now, they will have to specify (from a dropdown menu) the type of end user: government, commercial, private individual or other (which brings up a free text field).

This information is already required if you're using one of the open licenses (e.g. OGEL). This is part of the Strategic Export Control Transparency Initiative.
