The Buzz: The latest Coen brothers film is a musical set in 1950s Hollywood. The ensemble cast includes George Clooney, who plays a movie star whose kidnapping threatens to derail the production of a big-budget film. The trailer features Scarlett Johansson dressed as a mermaid and a sailor suit-clad Channing Tatum dancing up a storm. If that's not enough to whet your appetite, Tilda Swinton plays Hedda Hopper, the same real-life gossip columnist that Helen Mirren plays in Trumbo. What could be more delicious than comparing their takes on the role? - Sara Bibel

Certificate PG-13   -   Drama | Romance

Metascore: 27/100 (18 reviews)
Travis and Gabby first meet as neighbors in a small coastal town and wind up in a relationship that is tested by life's most defining events.

The Buzz: Producer/director Ross Katz brings his indie cred to this latest Nicholas Sparks romantic drama. Though the release date timed to coincide with Valentine's Day and the marketing campaign has been fairly steady, we're still thinking this more is more The Longest Ride than Dear John.

Certificate PG-13   -   Action | Horror | Romance

Metascore: 46/100 (29 reviews)
Jane Austen's classic tale of the tangled relationships between lovers from different social classes in 19th century England is faced with a new challenge -- an army of undead zombies.

The Buzz: As a fan of both Regency era romance and zombie mayhem, I am so ready for this insane mashup. This film also brings together many of my favorite UK TV stars as sword-wielding, zombie slaying socialites: Lena Heady and Charles Dance ("Game of Thrones"), Matt Smith ("Doctor Who"), and the lovely Lily James ("Downton Abbey") just to name a few! - Vanessa Wesley

M/14   -   Crime | Drama | Mystery | Thriller

Metascore: 31/100 (8 reviews)
A detective and a psychoanalyst uncover evidence of a satanic cult while investigating the rape of a young woman.

The Buzz: Chances are that Ethan Hawke has become inundated with offers for leading roles in horror movies since Sinister and The Purge both became breakout successes, but it doesn't seem like lightning will strike a third time as he and Emma Watson offer up a tale of Satanic cults and ritualistic sexual abuse. Reviewers have been kind to both stars but rather harsh in their treatment of director Alejandro Amenábar, who is still trying to finding a level of success he enjoyed with The Others -- which is 15 years old already. Yikes.

The Buzz: Peter Greenaway is enjoying a small-scale renaissance as reviewers and festival audiences have embraced his fantastical exploration of a pivotal moment in the early career of Battleship Potemkin director Sergei Eisenstein.

Certificate R   -   Comedy | Music | Romance

Metascore: 56/100 (9 reviews)
A young woman struggles to move on with her life after the death of her husband, an acclaimed folk singer, when a brash New York writer forces her to confront her loss and the ambiguous circumstances of his death.

The Buzz: By the looks of the trailer, Tumbledown traffics in a handful of familiar indie-movie tropes, but the story's sensitive nature seems to be balanced by a sense of humor that doesn't ring false -- for that you can thank the superb cast, we imagine. We welcome Rebecca Hall in any form and note that Jason Sudeikis continues to expand his range as a comedic actor with a role that requires more than wisecracks. It's great to see Blythe Danner back on screen so soon after I'll See You in My Dreams, too.
