Netflix Developing 'The Punisher' Spinoff Series

13 hours ago | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

Last summer, rumors floated that now that they've established their first slate of Netflix programming including "Daredevil," "Jessica Jones," "Luke Cage," and "Iron Fist," Marvel was beginning to take a look at their Phase II slate of shows. And among the contenders to get their own series was The Punisher, Blade and Ghost Rider, which as you might've noticed, have all previously had big screen incarnations (albeit from different studios). Well, it looks like one of them might be on the way. TVLine reports that Netflix is developing "The Punisher," after seeing Jon Bernthal's performance as the character in the upcoming second season of "Daredevil." It seems to pretty early stages as no showrunner or writers have been revealed, but my guess is that they are starting the wheels in motion and perhaps waiting to see what audience response is before giving the whole thing a firm greenlight. But it says something. »

The Jennings’ very existence on The Americans is in danger in Season 4 (premiering March 16).

While last season found Philip and Elizabeth disagreeing about whether or not to tell their daughter the truth, “the question of how to parent Paige is now secondary to the question of how to fight for this family’s survival,” executive producer Joel Fields said Saturday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour in Pasadena.

In light of that peril, star Matthew Rhys believes the idealistic Philip from the early seasons who wanted to »

Donald Glover Celebrates ‘Absurdity of the World’ in FX’s ‘Atlanta’

2 hours ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Donald Glover has graduated from “Community” to FX’s “Atlanta,” a naturalistic look at two cousins on the rise in the city’s vibrant music scene.

The half-hour series allows Glover to flex his multi-hyphenate muscles as a writer, actor and a musician who records under the name Childish Gambino.

Most of all, Glover wanted to capture the pulse of the title city and an unvarnished look at the lives of two ambitious but very different young men. His cousin is played by Brian Tyree Henry.

The series opener parachutes viewers into the world of two young men on the cusp of successful without spending much time explaining who they are and where they came from. Glover and the “Atlanta” team — including showrunner Paul Simms and director Hiro Murai, trust that the audience will come along for the ride. There’s no word yet on a premiere date, but it »

Simpson, based on the book “The Run for His Life” by Jeffrey Toobin. The cast spoke poignantly about the challenge of bringing the real people to life in a panel Saturday at the Television Critics Assn. press tour in Pasadena, Calif.

“It’s the hardest character I’ve ever played,” said Cuba Gooding Jr., who portrays O.J. Simpson. “It was six months of an emotional roller coaster.”

He said, though, he had no desire to meet the man himself, given that he’s playing him as he was in 1994 — “charismatic, flamboyant, braggadocious, egotistical” — and not as he is today. “I had no desire to visit him in his present condition being incarcerated, being a shell of a man,” he said. “I »

Seven of the Most Rewatchable TV Sitcoms of All Time

8 hours ago | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

It’s too hard to tell whether the newest crop of television shows that we all watch will are “rewatchable.” I mean I guess I could watch Always Sunny in Philadelphia and not really get tired of it. I’ve seen Big Bang Theory episodes a zillion times.  I’ll even watch Modern Family on USA.  But when I refer to rewatchable I’m talking about shows where you can see every single episode at least 5 times.  So that remains to be seen. When I think of rewatchable, I think of when I see one of my favorite shows in syndication and whenever
