Update on pushing the business reform agenda for the European Union

The 2015 CBI conference hosted a lively session exploring the impact of disruptive innovation on businesses. From fast-growing disruptors such as Uber, to established brands like Royal Mail the session was focused on understanding how businesses can take advantage of an increasingly disruptive environment. 

Whether you’re a brand new business looking to scale-up or an established business that has been around for a while, the ability to disrupt the status quo and to adopt new technology will be critical to securing a place in the modern online marketplace. But how do you do it? The CBI’s Annual Conference ‘Disruptive Innovation’ panel session aimed to answer this question.

The CBI commented on the announcement by the Government of fast broadband for all homes and businesses by 2020.

Given the UK’s leading role as a digital and service-based economy, the CBI welcomes the initiatives set out in the Commission’s Single Market strategy. Furthermore, we support the approach to place SMEs at the heart of the strategy as they are a vital source of innovation and job creation in our increasingly digital and knowledge-driven economy.

The European Commission has launched its review of online platforms and will run into Spring 2016. The CBI is pulling together its position with a view to publish in the new year.
