In the film, the Falcon (Sam Wilson) utilizes a falcon drone called Redwing. In the mainstream Marvel comics Redwing was an actual falcon, Sam Wilson's pet.

Daredevil's appearance hasn't been confirmed or denied yet. Charlie Cox (Daredevil) said he would be pleased to take part in Civil War, but it remains uncertain as the movie has already started filming.
Hugo Weaving confirmed he does not know if he is set to return as The Red Skull in this or any other Marvel Studios film. Weaving has previously expressed no interest in returning to the role, citing the extensive makeup requirements as a deterrent, but is under contract to appear two more times.
Marvel initially wanted to hire Robert Downey Jr.'s reprisal of Tony Stark as a small role, with just three weeks of work. However Downey wanted a larger role, which would lead to a bigger payday. Marvel Entertainment CEO Ike Perlmutter was furious over the request, prompting him to order the screenwriters to write Stark out of the story completely. When the deal seemed like it was off the table, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige pushed to hire Downey, citing that his casting in the film could leave the door open for sequels, new franchises, and dramatic possibilities within the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Civil War could drive future storylines for these films. As a result with Downey's casting, the actor received a substantial payout that includes a backend participation deal and another payout if the film's box office gross succeeds Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014).
Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans describe the dynamic between Iron Man/Tony Stark and Captain America/Steve Rogers as a marriage: "We love each other, but it's explosive. You're working toward the same goal but you have very different approaches to it. It's blurry and that's what makes it great: no one's right, no one's wrong. It's going to make it even harder for them to come to an agreement."
Captain America, Hawkeye, Falcon, Winter Soldier, Scarlet Witch, Ant-Man, Iron-Man, War Machine, Vision, Black Widow, Spider-Man and Black Panther are confirmed to appear. It is unknown if Hank Pym, Wasp, Daredevil, Red Skull, Hulk, and Red Hulk will, but Ruffalo was seen on the set of the film.
Black Panther's claws are made from vibranium, the same (fictional) material from which Captain America's shield is made as revealed in Captain America: The First Avenger (2011). This makes sense as Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) revealed that vibranium was a metal only found in the Black Panther's realm of Wakanda.
This movie was announced, along with eight others, at a special Marvel event that laid out the franchises plans all the way up to 2019. Initially, the title was revealed to be 'Captain America: Serpent Society', but this was later reneged within the same event as weeks of rumours and leaks were confirmed and it was officially titled 'Captain America: Civil War'. According to Kevin Feige , the ruse was because "...we [didn't want to] blow our wad on the presentation with Civil War right at the front of it."
The finalists for the Spider-Man role would do separate screen tests with Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. with the intent of seeing the chemistry fit the best with both Evans and Downey.
Ragnarok or Thor's Clone was integral part of Civil War in Comics but will not be in movie. However Vision will be in movie, a similar concept who's also a robot like Thor's clone and is also worthy to wield Thor's hammer.
General Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross (William Hurt) will return in this movie, marking his first MCU appearance in 8 years (The Incredible Hulk (2008)). Also, he is the only cast member, (besides Robert Downey Jr. - who appeared in an uncredited scene) to return from The Incredible Hulk (2008). It is yet unknown whether or not he will become Red Hulk in this movie however.
Co-director Joe Russo said that "the most powerful shot of the film" was Steve Rogers stopping a helicopter from taking off with his bare hands. The shot was even featured in the first teaser trailer for the film. Russo said Chris Evans worked very hard in the gym to physically embody the character because they wanted to test the limit's of Steve's physical strength. About the shot itself he noted, "On set we had Chris straining against a crane holding the helicopter to get this fantastic shot of his muscles bulging and you can feel the energy and determination as he tries to stop it."
The film will be based on the Marvel Comics "Civil War" crossover event published from 2006 to 2007. The story shows what happens to the Marvel Universe when the government decides to fully regulate the superhero community and how the heroes themselves split on the issue. 'Civil War' was published as a seven issue limited series written by Mark Millar and illustrated by Steven McNiven. While being published, most every ongoing Marvel comic book at the time contained tie-in stories of how each character dealt with the events of the Civil War.
The events of this movie will touch upon themes of liberty, moral responsibility, and civil order, with well-intentioned superhero characters finding themselves upon different sides.
After the 'Civil War' crossover event in Marvel comics was complete another big crossover event was 'Secret Invasion,' which revealed that the shape-shifting alien villains The Skrulls had been replacing key people in government and the super powered community for decades, and that they are at least partially to blame for leading to the events of the civil war as a means to soften human society for a full scale invasion. Since the Skrulls are villains of the Fantastic Four, Disney/Marvel most likely can not use them in future films at this time. Also the idea of a "secret invasion" in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is already very close to what happened when HYDRA revealed they grew inside S.H.I.E.L.D.
The filmmakers describe Barnes as a divided character: "He's not Bucky Barnes anymore, he's not the Winter Soldier anymore; he's something in between. There's a part of his personality that was under mind control, and he murdered a lot of people. So he's got a very complicated history. Who is that person? How does that character move forward?"
Teams were initially rumored to be Captain America, The Winter Soldier, Falcon, Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye and Ant-Man. Iron Man's rumored side included himself, War Machine, Vision, Black Widow and Spider-Man. Teams now confirmed are Captain America, The Winter Soldier, Scarlet Witch, Falcon, Agent 13, Hawkeye and Ant-Man. Iron Man's confirmed side includes himself, War Machine, Vision, Black Widow and Black Panther.
The filmmakers describe betrayal as a crucial theme in the film: "We didn't want the movie to be just about politics and people arguing about platitudes. The final act is built around a personal act between Tony and Steve."
Since the announcement of the title, there has been a meme about the film featuring Steve Rogers and Tony Stark arguing over random topics followed by the the film's title reveal.
Spider-Man has more than just a cameo appearance he will be in 2 or 3 fight scenes and a scene talking to Iron Man and a scene talking to Captain America.
Not counting the recently released Netflix Daredevil series, Kevin Feige confirmed that the MCU will not shift into a dark path, so it is likely this movie will not be as dark or extreme as the comic books.
It has been confirmed that there will be a series a children's books based on the film and they will come out in the beginning of April 2016, a whole month before the movie comes to theaters.
It was confirmed that Spider-Man will not have a cameo role in this film. He is to have a fight scene, (and then a little more screen time played by 19-year-old Tom Holland) most likely with Captain America. The scene of Spider-Man getting his hands dirty in the film should excite all fandom.
This movie is slated to premiere in the same year as a DC comics movie also revolving around two heroes battling, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016).
The film was going to feature the Incredible Hulk, but he was shifted to Thor: Ragnarok (2017) and so the filmmakers chose General Ross in the film as a substitute to illustrate the theme of destructive power: "We thought it would be interesting to use a character who had a fanatical anti-superhero point of view, built on experience. He's cornering the Avengers politically now, he's out-maneuvering them."
This will be the first theatrically released film featuring Spider-Man where the special effects for the character are not being produced by another company affiliated with Sony, the rights holder to Spider-Man. Industrial Light & Magic, which handles much of the special effects for the Marvel Cinematic Universe film series, will be producing the special effects.
Robert Downey Jr.'s other recurring role is Sherlock Holmes. Cast member Martin Freeman plays Doctor Watson on 'Sherlock (2010)(TV)'. Freeman co stars with Benedict Cumberbatch who shares the role of Sherlock will play Doctor Strange in future films.
In the "Civil War" comic, Baron Zemo was the one who outed Bucky Barnes as the Winter Soldier to the public. This will be where the conflict between Tony Stark and Steve Rogers kicks off, as the Winter Soldier is the one who assassinated Stark's parents.
In Civil War storyline, Captain America was killed by Crossbones (Brock Rumlow) and a brainwashed Agent 13 (Sharon Carter). Both characters have already been introduced in Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014).
Mutants (such as the X-Men) play a part in the original comic book story as human society had always held a prejudice against mutant-kind while also being accepting of non-mutant heroes. When the tide turns against all powered people some characters view it as fitting since non-mutant heroes had it easy for so long and others view it as troubling. Since 20th Century Fox owns the rights to the Marvel concept of "mutants" this will not be a part of the film. However, in its second season, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013) introduced the concept of Inhumans to the MCU, which has played out very similarly to the idea of mutants from the comic books, and this may be a part of the Civil War movie, and help to setup events for Inhumans (2019)
In the original Civil War storyline, Steve Rogers (Captain America) is killed and Bucky Barnes (The Winter Soldier) and Sam Wilson (Falcon) become the new Captain America(s).
At the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Captain America forms new team consisting of Black Widow, War Machine, Vision, Falcon and Scarlet Witch. However, its unclear that this new team will follow Captain America or not due to Civil War between Avengers.
In the Civil War comic book series Tony Stark builds Spider-Man an "Iron Spider" suit. Also Peter Parker is convinced into revealing his secret identity to the world as an act of trust between the civilian public and superhero community.
Captain America will not die in the film, as Chris Evans has two more films on his picture deal contract. After this, there are Avengers: Infinity War - Part I (2018) & Avengers: Infinity War - Part II (2019) left after them there is a possibility that Captain America will not die after all but will probably Retire at the end of Avengers: Infinity War Part, 2 and Bucky Barnes who is Captain America's old friend and used to be Winter Soldier will be trained.
It was revealed that Captain America's team consist of Hawkeye, Falcon, The Winter Soldier, Scarlet Witch, Sharon Carter/Agent 13 and Ant-Man while Iron Man's team consists of War Machine, Vision, Black Widow, and Black Panther.
Thanos will possibly appear in this movie, if not but the credit scene to obtain the Mind Stone from the possibly destroyed Vision's forehead to put on his Infinity Gauntlet.
Spider-Man plays a big role in this movie, having to choose sides between Captain America and Iron Man. Since this is his first time in a MCU Film, it's unclear if he will get a background story, especially due to the fact it's a Captain America film and not a Spider-Man film. Tom Holland will be getting a stand alone movie and is going to continue debuting as the character in many MCU films, the next being Avengers: Infinity War - Part I (2018) 1 and Avengers: Infinity War - Part II (2019) (Not including the stand alone), and will also most likely join the Avengers.
Marvel supposedly is looking to make Peter Parker 15 years old and this will likely lead into Spider-Man joining the Avengers and also count as an origin/backstory for Peter Parker as well as the final chapter for Steve Rogers aka Captain America with either Bucky or Sam Wilson will take over as Captain America.
According to Robert Downey Jr.'s personal trainer Eric Oram stated that the trick to pitting Captain America against Iron Man "is to show Iron Man using the minimum force necessary to win the fight, and not to look like he's trying to go wild and kill somebody."
In the comics the Fantastic 4 play a big role in the story. Due to Marvel not owning rights to them and the Fantastic 4 getting a reboot in 2015 this will not happen.
