Device Manager does not list my camera

The Device Manager does NOT list my Canon Powershot G16 digital camera when I connect it, using a NEW Canon IFC-400PCU USB cable, to ANY of the USB ports in the Rosewill RDCR-11004 internal card reader in my PC. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium.

However, the Device Manager DOES list my Nikon CoolPix L22 digital camera connected, via a Nikon USB cable, to ANY of the ports in the card reader.

Does this mean there's a problem with the Canon camera?
