So I ordered a J5
Considered numerous other options, but didn't see anything I liked more, or even as much. Still hoping for a V4 though.
Also giving serious consideration to the 32mm. The more I look at sample images, the more I want it. A $1000 (with tax) is a lot of money, so I thought to myself, what are my options in and around that price that will give me that kind of speed and excellence for that kind of money, and the answer seems to be nothing!
For a little more money, I could buy an X100t, but the slow AF and lack of a flip out screen are deal breakers, never mind the size and weight. Enter the RX100 and LX100. Between these two. I much prefer the LX100 for obvious reasons. Yeah, it's bigger the the RX and doesn't have a flip out screen, but it is a lot more like the Fuji in handling. The Sony simply feels all wrong. However, as much as I prefer the Panny, the omission of a flip out screen is a deal breaker. Also, upon further investigation there were other concerns, like lack of sharpness wide open and dust getting inside the sensor that dampened my enthusiasm for what otherwise seems like a very nice camera.
I also looked a m43 options and lenses, but I did not see anything there that I would prefer in lieu of the N1 system. At a glance, the GM5 seems like the obvious choice, but it doesn't have the flip out screen, and according to DXO, it isn't really any better than the J5.
So regardless of what the naysayers say, along with every Thom, dick and Harry, I know what I want and why I want it. And that's all that matters, right?
