Róisín Pillay – Director of the Europe Regional Programme
Róisín Pillay has worked extensively on national implementation of international human rights standards, and on issues of counter-terrorism and human rights. She studied law at Trinity College Dublin and at the University of Cambridge, and qualified as a barrister in Ireland. She previously worked for the Irish Law Reform Commission, for  JUSTICE, the British section of the ICJ, and as an advisor to the UK Parliamentary Joint Committee on Human Rights, before joining the ICJ in 2006, where she manages the Europe Regional Programme and leads the work with the European Court of Human Rights and the Council of Europe.

 

Massimo Frigo – Legal Adviser

Massimo Frigo (photo © European Union 2012) is Legal Adviser in the European Programme. Massimo’s expertise in international law is particularly focused on migration, counter-terrorism, criminal justice and the independence of the judiciary and legal profession. Massimo also works on the European Union and the relations between EU law and human rights. He is the editor of the ICJ E-Bulletin on Counter-Terrorism and Human Rights. Massimo joined the ICJ in 2007. Prior to joining the ICJ, he assisted in the research of the International Council on Human Rights Policy. Massimo holds an LL M of the University of London and a Law Degree (Laurea in Giurisprudenza) of the University of Trento.
 
Temur Shakirov – Legal Adviser

Temur Shakirov is Legal Adviser in the European Programme. He graduated from Washington College of Law of the American University in DC, the Tashkent State Institute of Law and the Uzbek World Languages University. Temur joined the ICJ in early 2009. He previously worked at the Uzbekistan Bar Association Tashkent City Branch and the ABA/CEELI in Uzbekistan.
