ICJ-European Institutions

The ICJ-European Institutions is a non-profit organization established in Brussels, which shares the mission and vision of the International Commission of Jurists to promote human rights through the rule of law.

ICJ-European Institutions is independent of the ICJ but closely linked to it and co-operates with the ICJ and its partner organizations in the promotion and protection of human rights and the rule of law around the world.

ICJ-European Institutions works in particular to bring the concerns of the ICJ to the attention of institutions and bodies of the European Union and Council of Europe, and advocates to strengthen standards and mechanisms for the protection of human rights at European level.

At the global level, in close cooperation with the ICJ, ICJ-European Institutions engages in cooperation projects with local partners to promote human rights through the rule of law, bringing its special expertise on European human rights law and legal systems.

ICJ-European Institutions was established under Belgian law as an association internationale sans but lucrative (a.i.s.b.l.) in 2012 through its Statute (see below). It is based in Rue de Dinant 5, 1000 Brussels and can be contacted at infoicj-ei(a)icj.org
