Olympus 7-14 does purple blobs too.

I recently bought the Olympus 7-14 2.8 to give me a wider view on the world.

When I buy a lens I like to put it through its paces to draw out any weaknesses that it may have using real locations and photography that mirrors what I will use it for.

Mostly I am happy with this lens. It performs as a lens of this price should behave. But compared to the old 9-18 that I sadly had to part company with to help finance this acquisition this lens has some weaknesses.

Weaknesses that are mostly the price one has to pay to obtain a lens with such a wide angle of view but perhaps not.

Most surprisingly I see the purple blob syndrome can crop up in the Olympus in the same way as it crops up in the 7-14 Panasonic. This I did not expect.

Purple blobs top LH and top RH nect to the strong lights.

The horrific flare that can occur when one has direct light in the frame was to be expected.

I regret that I had to sell the 9-18 as it is much better in situations at night with direct light.

A month of retouching to rescue this!

Your thoughts?
