Here's What Bb-8 Almost Looked Like In The Force Awakens

Star Wars: The Force Awakens has introduced an entirely new generation of Star Wars characters to an entirely new generation of Star Wars fans. From Rey to Finn to Kylo Ren, the latest installment in the series has done an amazing job of stepping out of the shadow of the original trilogy. One character that seems to have captured everyone’s heart is the loveable droid Bb-8. Beyond merely having a personality that’s different from R2-D2, she also has a very different look – a look that went through numerous revisions.   Movie Web has revealed some of the concept art created during the droid’s development, check it out below:      These images have been pulled from a new book titled The Art of Star Wars: The Force Awakens which, as one would likely assume, chronicles the artwork (and the development of »

C-3Po's Red Arm In Force Awakens Explained

Spoiler Alert for Star Wars: The Force Awakens ahead. There are a ton of question marks that Star Wars fans were left with after the credits of The Force Awakens rolled. One of the questions revolving around the original characters was namely: what’s the deal with C-3Po’s red arm?  A page about C-3Po in a companion book to The Force Awakens has recently leaked online, where some answers are given regarding the mysterious red arm. The caption reads, C-3Po is uncharacteristically quiet when it comes to discussing his salvaged arm; it is a memento of another droid's sacrifice. Well this is intriguing. J.J Abrams had previously reported that he wanted a physical change in C-3Po, which would help signify the time jump that The Force Awakens has taken. While droids can’t wrinkle and grey as the human »

Which Star Wars Trailer Moments Didn't Make It Into The Movie

By now most of you have probably seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens at least once. Against all odds, J.J. Abrams and the rest of the creative geniuses involved in the making of the film actually created a movie that lived up to fan expectations. However, despite just how airtight the movie is, not everything we were promised in the trailers made it into the final cut.   Yahoo! Movies broke down Star Wars: The Force Awakens and identified several moments from the trailers that drove fans crazy, but never made it into the actual movie. The most glaring omission is the brief moment in which Kylo Ren fires up his cross guard lightsaber; apparently Abrams found the moment great for the trailer (short form storytelling) but not necessarily right for the actual climax of the movie (long form storytelling). Whether or not he was correct, the fact remains »

25 December 2015 9:38 AM, PST

You probably noticed this whether you celebrate the holiday or not, but it.s Christmas Day. With the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens last week, it.s also a festive time of year for a whole different reason, and one hilarious new video making the rounds on the internet combines the fun of that far, far away galaxy with the holiday spirit. And it.ll make you realize that Darth Vader is an even bigger dick than you thought.   This "Darth Santa" video from Corridor Digital not only mixes together two of our favorite things.Star Wars and Christmas.but it does so in a charming and funny way. When you stop and think about it, it makes sense that Darth Vader wouldn.t be a huge fan of the holidays. After all, he.s not the cheeriest fellow, and he.s kind of estranged from his kids, »

Crew member Dies On The Set Of Resident Evil: The Final Chapter

25 December 2015 8:35 AM, PST

The set of the new Resident Evil movie has seemingly become an incredibly dangerous place to work. Only a couple months after a stuntwoman was in a terrible accident that left her in a coma, another crew member, who had nothing to do with stunts, died after sustaining an injury on the set. What’s worse, is that this accident happened nearly a month ago but the news is only now coming out. Ricardo Cornelius was a crew member on the film’s shoot in South Africa when he was standing near a Humvee that was located on a rotating platform. Apparently, the Humvee was not properly secured and it slid off the platform. According to Deadline, when this happened it pinned Cornelius against a wall and crushed him. The crew member was rushed to the hospital and placed on life support, but he passed away a few »

Listen To Radiohead's Unreleased Spectre Theme Song

25 December 2015 7:52 AM, PST

Whenever it comes time for a new James Bond movie there are three universal questions that are always at the top of the list. Who’s playing the lead comes first, in case that’s changing. Next is who’s playing the new Bond Girl? And once you have those out of the way the question becomes, who’s doing the theme? We've heard Sam Smith's offering from Spectre, but now we can listen to the song Radiohead submitted for consideration. Peforming the opening song for a James Bond is a fairly prestigious get. Some of the biggest acts of their respective days recorded the these tracks, which may or may not actually include the title. Today the producers actually go to multiple artists looking for songs, and then choose the one they like best. This means that there are unreleased songs that »

How Spider-Man's New Costume Will Be Different Than Previous Versions

25 December 2015 7:12 AM, PST

Everything changed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe the day that Spider-Man came home. Marvel’s most popular hero, and one of the biggest names in all of comics, will be joining the team, or at least a team, when Captain America: Civil War hits theaters next year. However, the Wall Crawler is one of the characters that we were not introduced to in the first trailer, so we know little about how he will fit in the story, and even less about what he looks like. The film’s directors gave us a slight hint about what we'll see when we finally lay eyes on Spider-Man. As part of the PR for their new Beijing, China studio, Joe and Anthony Russo talked a bit about what we can expect from the new costume. Since there’s no annoying music in the background this time, you can »

The Only Way Natalie Dormer Would Do A Hunger Games Prequel

25 December 2015 6:37 AM, PST

The Hunger Games franchise is one still capable of printing money. Even though Mockingjay: Part 2 had had the smallest box office of any of the movies in the series, it’s still a top 10 movie as far as this year’s box office is concerned. This means that there's interest in continuing the franchise in one form or another. Several members of the cast and crew have spoken out about their interest in such an idea. Now Natalie Dormer has added her voice to those saying that the only way they’d be interested in another movie was if the author of the book series is involved. Natalie Dormer was asked about a Hunger Games prequel as part of the press for her new horror movie The Forest. She told Entertainment Weekly that any new movie would need to be based on an idea »

The Tupac Biopic Finally Found its Tupac

25 December 2015 6:20 AM, PST

The commercial success of this year.s Straight Outta Compton paved the way for future biopics centered on the tumultuous lives of iconic rappers. Arguably one of the most heavily demanded of all of these is a film based on the life and death of Tupac Shakur . although there.s still plenty of debate as to whether or not that death even occurred. Now it seems fans will be getting what they want and the new Tupac biopic has already cast is lead (it.s not a hologram).   TMZ reports that Demetrius Shipp Jr. has been cast in the upcoming movie about the rise of Tupac titled All Eyez On Me. The actor himself commemorated his arrival on set with a number of Tweets.   #AllEyezOnMe pic.twitter.com/ZkLOcduX09 . The Force Awakens Almost Included Another Classic Star Wars Character

25 December 2015 6:12 AM, PST

As it developed over the course of a couple of years, Star Wars: The Force Awakens went through many changes. We.re going to be hearing stories about what almost happened, who was supposed to show up and what could have been for years. The movie has only been out for a week and we.re already learning about what things that were on the table, and one biggie in that column is that Anakin Skywalker almost popped in for a visit. There are a few minor Spoilers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens from here on out. The Force Awakens mostly ignores the prequels, focusing on the characters and events from the original trilogy. Given the timeline this makes sense; those events were more recent and directly related to the story at hand. However, according to a new book, The Art of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Anakin almost »

25 December 2015 5:42 AM, PST

It's Christmas time, and, as has been promised over the last couple weeks, Deadpool has delivered us our favorite gift of the season. The brand new Red Band trailer for the R-rated superhero movie is out, and it is guaranteed to get you psyched up for the new film. Check it out below! Are you sold on this movie yet? I don.t know how you couldn.t be. After years of promising a very different kind of superhero movie full of over-the-top violence, profanity, and insanity, the film has fully delivered in its first extended preview. I can.t think of many other movies based on comic book properties featuring the titular hero cutting of a guy.s head and then kicking it at a group of other baddies: As we see in this trailer, released by 20th Century Fox, Deadpool stars Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson, a mercenary »

Rob Zombie's New Movie Keeps Getting An Nc-17 Rating, And He's Beyond Annoyed

24 December 2015 8:20 PM, PST

Rob Zombie movies can get, for lack of a better word, intense. With blood, gore, and sex ruling the day, his love for the days of grindhouse films has rubbed off on each film he's made, with the same level of intensity throughout. So the fact that his latest film, 31, has been rated Nc-17 isn't a surprise. It's the fact that it's gone through two separate evaluations with the same result that's frustrating. Zombie broke the news on his Facebook page, during an update on the film's on-going march to its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival next month. As you can read in his status update below, this film does not have an easy ride from post-production to the silver screen: Well, after two tries through the MPAA our rating on 31 remains Nc-17. Maybe three is the charm to get an R rating. Why R you ask? Well, because »

Watch A Drunk Girl Try To Explain Star Wars, Fail Horribly

24 December 2015 7:07 PM, PST

While Star Wars isn't exactly the most complicated story, it does still have its fair share of details to remember, in the hopes of keeping the story straight. So when a fairly drunk girl tried to retell the story to her boyfriend, she got more than a couple details incorrect in her version of the story. Thanks to the internet, you can watch this hysterical moment below. This video has been circulating through Facebook like wildfire, and it shows Mark Zabala's girlfriend's trying to tell the story of the original Star Wars. According to Maggie, Zabala's girlfriend, she's seen enough of the films, commercials, and merchandise to paint what she feels is an accurate picture of that galaxy far, far away. Apparently, that's none of them, as her boyfriend is quick to correct her assumption in the caption for the video, and it shows as she couldn't have possibly gotten »

Who J.J. Abrams Based One Star Wars: The Force Awakens Character On

24 December 2015 5:46 PM, PST

You might not guess it immediately, but some of the outlandish characters that populate the far, far away galaxy of J.J. Abrams. Star Wars: The Force Awakens have origins that can be found startlingly close to home. For instance, while working on the script, the writer and director found inspiration for the diminutive, venerable Maz Kanata in the most unlikely source: his high school English teacher. In a recent interview, the mastermind behind the massive hit (The Force Awakens has, as of today, apparently earned more than $765 million at the worldwide box office, in a week) told The Palisadian Post that Maz is based on Rose Gilbert, his high school English teacher. Abrams said: Yes, the character of Maz was originally based on the great Rose Gilbert. We really wanted the story to feel authentic, despite being a wild fantasy. I mentioned Rose in an early story meeting as »

How Robin Fits Into Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice

24 December 2015 4:40 PM, PST

As we continue to mark off the days to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (90 and counting), one of the big questions that remains unanswered is what role, if any, the Dark Knight's sidekick, Robin, will play in Zack Snyder's movie. There was a Robin tease at the end of Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises, but with Ben Affleck's Batman being an older version of the masked vigilante, how the Boy Wonder fits into the puzzle has been a much speculated on topic, though a new report may shed some light on the matter. There are potential Spoilers for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. You've been warned. In one of the earlier trailers for Dawn of Justice, we saw what appears to be something of a shrine to a fallen Robin. The empty suit has been vandalized with the inscription, "Ha Ha Ha, »

The 10 Best Horror Movies Of 2015

24 December 2015 3:22 PM, PST

As much as I love horror movies and as much as this genre, more than any other, has had a disproportionally huge impact on my life, I can admit that it.s an up and down proposition for sure. There are great, unique, inventive examples of what the genre can be and do mixed in there right along with straight-up garbage (I can.t begin to tell you how much I hated The Gallows without breaking into a fit of cursing). But let.s not dwell on the negative. With that in mind, let.s run down the best, most interesting movies horror had to offer in 2015. 10. Unfriended Everything eventually gets its own movie, and now social media has Unfriended. While a story told entirely through Facebook, Skype, Snapchat, and the like sounds awful in a what-the-hell-are-they-thinking kind of way, at its best, this is a clever, tense little horror »

10 Movies You Didn't Know Were Hits In 2015

24 December 2015 2:56 PM, PST

We all know the movies that totally blew up the box office in 2015. Marvel Studios had another great year with both The Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man; Furious 7 gave Paul Walker a rip-roaring send-off, and both Jurassic World and Star Wars: The Force Awakens took turn breaking opening weekend box office records. But while you may know all of the big hits of the year, there are some titles that wound up being huge hits beneath everyone.s noses. Either with the power of international box office, or with the bonus of low budgets (in some cases both), there are some films that came out this year that wound up making a huge profit without really getting that much fanfare. Now that 2015 is coming to a close, we.re going to shine a light on some of these movies. and a few of them may surprise you. Hotel Transylvania 2 »

That Kylo Ren Rumor About His Relationship To Rey? Here's The Truth

24 December 2015 2:42 PM, PST

Many of the biggest questions left after watching Star Wars: The Force Awakens revolve around Daisy Ridley.s character Rey, a new addition to the franchise who, though she plays the central part in Episode VII, has a backstory shrouded in mystery and shadows. She obviously has connections to other players in this far, far away galaxy, but they are all hidden for now. A new video making the rounds seemed to expose her relationship with the villainous Kylo Ren, but as it turns out, those reports are bogus. Guess what? There are Spoilers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens beyond this point. Do what you must. A video of a the Disney Infinity 3.0, Star Wars: The Force Awakens playset for PlayStation 4 has been getting a lot of play on the internet as it appears to reveal a big secret about the link between Rey and Kylo Ren. Hero Blend #81: What Star Wars Can Learn From Comic Book Movies

24 December 2015 2:11 PM, PST

(Note: Due to a scheduling conflict, this episode is coming to you one week after originally planned, but the conversation is just as valid!) A couple months ago, when the final trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens dropped, we dedicated an episode of Hero Blend to dissecting what modern comic book movies can learn and take away from the great sci-fi franchise.s success and legacy. Well, this week we.re turning the tables a bit, and wondering what the future of Star Wars can learn from modern comic book movies. After all, the world of blockbuster franchises has changed a great deal since both of the previous Star Wars trilogies, and the reality is that they.re meant to operate much differently than before. To keep up with fan demand, a new movie . if not two . is demanded every year. And those same fans don.t just one »
