This Christmas, which some may also know as The Fifth Day After Steve Harvey Announced the Wrong Miss Universe Winner, the pageant host used a humorous tweet to perhaps start putting his globally televised gaffe behind him.
Mission accomplished?
Harvey of course misread the notecard handed to him, declaring Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, to be this year’s Miss Universe. Minutes later, he returned to the stage, veritable tail between his legs, to correct his error and rightfully redirect the crown and other accouterments to Miss Philippines, Pia Wurtzbach.
Afterward, Harvey issued a statement to “apologize wholeheartedly” to both ladies “for my huge mistake,” adding: “I feel terrible.”
Very cute! It isn’t as if the man committed some unpardonable sin. He made a mistake. We all have at one time or another.
I can’t wait to see the self-deprecation humor when he announces Miss Universe next year. I can imagine the laughter and him making jokes when the winner is handed to him.
“And the winner is… Agrabah?” “Just making sure you’re reading the card correctly, Steve. Here’s the real one.”
